The Ossining Waterfront: A Tangled Tale of Epic Change, Human Tragedy, & Real Estate

Event sponsored by the Croton Friends of History. The Ossining waterfront has a history unique in the annals of the Hudson River—from the first inhabitants to the American Revolution to the arrival of the state prison, and its stunning transformation from gritty industrial landscape to lifestyle destination. Dana White is the Ossining Village Historian and a practicing journalist. She sits on the Historic Preservation Commission as well as the boards of the Sing Sing Prison Museum and the Ossining Historical Society Museum.
 
Saw Mill Audubon Bird Walk

Brinton Brook Sanctuary
 
Our monthly second Saturday walks at Brinton Brook continue year-round. Rain or shine. Meet in main parking area. Good for adults and young people age 8 and up. No pre-registration necessary. Croton Rise for Climate March
Saturday, September 8 – 10 AM to 12 PM
 
Croton Rise for Climate March will be a Global Day of Action before the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco. The day will involve thousands of "Rise for Climate Marches" in cities and towns throughout the United States and around the world. The march is set to begin at the Croton Free Library and end at Vassallo Park.
 
Hudson River Day
Saturday, September 8 – 11 AM to 4 PM
Croton Yacht Club
 
The Croton Yacht Club will once again be sponsoring its annual “Hudson River Day” celebration. Food and beverages will be available including the best fish chowder on the Hudson. Admission is free so please come and join us in a fun filled, educational and family focused event you will surely enjoy. Environmental organizations, local craft vendors and artists are welcome. Buchanan-Cortlandt-Croton 9/11 Memorial Ceremony
Tuesday, September 11 – 4 PM
Croton Landing
 
The ceremony is sponsored by the Town of Cortlandt, and Villages of Buchanan and Croton-on-Hudson. To attend the ceremony, please gather at the Croton Landing parking area at the north end of Elliott Way at 3:30 PM for the ceremony at 4 PM. Led by a color guard from the community, participants will walk in procession along the quarter mile pathway north to the memorial site on the Hudson River. A van from the Village of Croton will be in the parking area to transport those who need assistance.
