Croton Point Avenue Bridge and Sidewalk

The replacement of the Croton Point Avenue Bridge provided an opportunity to create pedestrian access over the bridge. The new Bridge was constructed by Metro North with 5-foot sidewalks along the traffic lanes. After the bridge was completed in 1996, NYSDOT installed sidewalks along the south side of Croton Point Avenue from the new Croton Point Avenue Bridge to the Route 9/9A southbound on-ramp.

This sidewalk connects to the sidewalk and bicycle path that have been constructed on the Croton River Bridge, now known as the Crossining. The sidewalks along Croton Point Avenue and the Croton Point Bridge provide key linkages to Croton Point Park trails and the new Railroad One Access Road and pedestrian/bicycle path to the riverfront trail to the North. This $12,000,000 project was jointly funded by Westchester County, New York State Department of Transportation, and Metro-North.
