Village Receives Impact Award for Solar Canopy Project

On February 7th, 2024, the Village of Croton-on-Hudson was presented with the Hudson Valley Regional Council Impact Award for its Solar Canopy Project at the Croton-Harmon Train Station. The award honors municipalities that have a significant, positive impact on the environment and advancing clean energy.

The solar canopy system, which is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in 2024, will produce 4 MWDC of clean power, and includes 3.5 MW of battery power storage. The energy produced will power both local homes and municipal facilities, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 1,800 tons per year.

“The causes of climate change are global, but the impacts are profoundly local. No one community can stop climate change, which is why we must all do our part,” said Village of Croton-on-Hudson Mayor Brian Pugh. “Thank you to the Hudson Valley Region Council for organizing communities around our region to take concrete steps for a cleaner planet & healthier environment and to the volunteers of our Village’s Sustainability Committee, chaired by Lindsay Audin, for making Croton-on-Hudson a leader in climate protection.”
