Solar Canopy Project at the Croton-Harmon Train Station

In 2020, the Village of Croton-on-Hudson released a request for proposals (RFP) for the installation of solar canopies at the Croton-Harmon Train Station parking lot. A total of seven proposals were received by the deadline. After a thorough review by the Sustainability Committee, Village staff and Village Board of Trustees, a lease agreement with Sol Systems of Washington, D.C., was approved by the Village Board of Trustees in February 2021. The project then went through numerous reviews, including by the Village Planning Board, Village Zoning Board of Appeals, Village Waterfront Advisory Committee and the New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation. Pre-mobilization for the project began in the Fall of 2022, with construction beginning in earnest in summer 2023. The project construction is set to be substantially completed by June 2024, with an operational date set for summer 2024.
