Mobile Shredder

Thursday, September 28th, 9:00 AM to Noon

Westchester County is bringing the Mobile Shredder to Croton-on-Hudson on September 28th. Residents can bring up to 4 file-size (10”x12”x15”) boxes of confidential papers per household to Croton-on-Hudson from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for shredding. 
 
  • Please remove all large binder clips and covers. 
  • Papers from businesses institutions or commercial enterprises are not acceptable and will be rejected as will any junk mail or newspapers.
  • Hard covers – cardboard or plastic covers on items such as ledger books marble composition books and hard-cover books – cannot be shredded and will be turned away

Westchester County Multilingual Job Fair

Westchester County will be hosting a multilingual job fair on Thursday, September 28th from 9am to 12pm at the Westchester County Center, located at 198 Central Ave, White Plains. Participation and parking are free.

Community Read-In at the Croton Free Library

Saturday, September 30th, 10:00 AM to Noon

Kick off Banned Books Week with a Community Read-In at the Croton Free Library. Library staff and community guests will host a public storytime and read aloud from children's books that have been banned or challenged in the last decade. Adults, teens, and older kids are welcome to just bring a blanket or lawn chair and read together on the lawn. Rain or shine — the event will take place inside the Library's Ottinger Room if it's raining.

39th Annual Croton Rotary Auto Show

The 39th Annual Croton Rotary Auto Show will take place on Sunday, October 1st at the Croton-Harmon Train Station. The show features classic cars and the Electric Vehicle Corral. There will be food and fun for the kids, with a special Balloon Show at 1pm.

Train the Tutors Workshop

High-school students can learn to help kids with their schoolwork as a volunteer opportunity or a paid job! The Croton Free Library will hold two Train the Tutors workshops: Sunday, Oct. 1 1:30-2:30pm Wednesday, Oct. 4, 4-5pm Travis Moll, experienced tutor and teacher at PVC, will discuss effective ways to help K-8 students and connect with them one-on-one. This program qualifies high-school students to volunteer in the Library's Homework Help tutoring program to earn community service hours. This free workshop will take place in the Library's Creative Space. Participants will earn 1 hour of community service credit for the training. Registration required! All Croton businesses are invited to attend a meeting on Monday, October 2 from 10:00- 11:00am in the Georgianna Grant Room of the Municipal Building. The purpose of the meeting will be to: (1) hear directly from Croton businesses about their priorities and how Village government can help;  (2) be briefed by the Village Manager and representatives of our Board of Trustees on current and future projects and programs which could be of interest to Croton businesses; and (3) assist Croton businesses in organizing an ongoing group that will be similar to the regular businesses organizations that are typical in our neighboring communities. The Bluechips @ Senasqua Park (Concert)

Croton Business Council Oktoberfest

The Croton Business Council will host the Croton Oktoberfest on October 7 from 12 PM to 6 PM in the Upper Village on Grand Street. Over 65 Artisanal vendors from food, to drink, to retail, and a ramped up kinder-fest area for the little ones with bouncy houses galore and much much more! Live music all day, including The Blue Chips, Dos Belos, & The Black Coffee Blues Band. Shuttle bus transportation available from Croton Harmon Train Station all day long. Harry Chapin Memorial Run Against Hunger

The Harry Chapin Memorial Run Against Hunger will take place on Sunday, October 15th at the Croton-Harmon High School. There's a 1-Mile Fun Run, a 5K Race/Walk, and a 10K Race! The run supports the Croton-Cortlandt Food Pantry, Croton Caring, Caring for the Hungry & Homeless of Peekskill, Hillside Food Outreach, Feeding Westchester, WhyHunger as well as international organizations that fight hunger! 125 Cocktail Party

Police Advisory Committee Community Town Hall

The Village of Croton-on-Hudson Police Advisory Committee and Croton Police Department will host a Town Hall for the community on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023 at 6:00 PM. The Town Hall is an opportunity for residents to learn about the results of the 2023 Community Survey on Public Safety and Law Enforcement, a report from the Police Advisory Committee, as well as a presentation from the Croton Police Department. Questions and input from residents will be welcomed at the end of the meeting. The meeting will be held in the Georgianna Grant Meeting Room of the Municipal Building at 1 Van Wyck Street. Residents are invited to attend in person, or you can view the Town Hall meeting on Cable Channel 78, as well as on the Village’s website. Questions can be emailed by October 13th to crotonpoliceadvisorycommittee@gmail.com.
