Croton Business Council Oktoberfest

The Croton Business Council will host the Croton Oktoberfest on October 14 from 12 PM to 6 PM in the Upper Village on Grand Street. Over 65 Artisanal vendors from food, to drink, to retail, and a ramped up kinder-fest area for the little ones with bouncy houses galore and much much more! Live music all day, including The Blue Chips, Dos Belos, & The Black Coffee Blues Band. Shuttle bus transportation available from Croton Harmon Train Station all day long. Croton Friends of History: The Mystery of Money Island

The Mystery of Money Island Some people say Croton Point’s Money Island was the place where the infamous pirate, Captain Kidd, buried his fabled treasure. Some people say it was a huge funeral mound for Native Americans slain in a terrible battle. Some people are reluctant to even whisper the name because the place was haunted—a favorite retreat for witches from all the country ’round. So what was Money Island? Village Historian Marc Cheshire will tell the tale of Money Island and its sad fate. Thursday, October 12, 7 p.m. at the Croton Free Library, Ottinger Room.

COVID-19 Vaccine Pop-Up Clinic

The Village of Croton-on-Hudson has rescheduled the Pop-Up COVID-19 Clinic at the Community Room at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck Street to Thursday, October 12th, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The updated 2023-2024 monovalent COVID vaccine targets the Omicron XBB.1.5 variant. Information and guidance regarding the 2023–2024 updated COVID-19 vaccines can be found on the CDC website. This pop-up will offer the Pfizer formulation. Please note that the clinic staff will be unable to vaccinate children at this pop-up. Registration is required. Police Advisory Committee Community Town Hall

The Village of Croton-on-Hudson Police Advisory Committee and Croton Police Department will host a Town Hall for the community on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023 at 6:00 PM. The Town Hall is an opportunity for residents to learn about the results of the 2023 Community Survey on Public Safety and Law Enforcement, a report from the Police Advisory Committee, as well as a presentation from the Croton Police Department. Questions and input from residents will be welcomed at the end of the meeting. The meeting will be held in the Georgianna Grant Meeting Room of the Municipal Building at 1 Van Wyck Street. Residents are invited to attend in person, or you can view the Town Hall meeting on Cable Channel 78, as well as on the Village’s website. The Old Croton Aqueduct in Art

When Cornelia Cotton opened an art gallery in Croton in 1979, one of the earliest gallery shows was called “Croton Water”– the first time that prints, maps, and ephemera of the Old Croton Aqueduct were shown as an art exhibit. Cornelia was active on efforts to preserve the Aqueduct early on, and after the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct (FOCA) was founded she served on its board for many years. Her presentation will feature a wide variety of images of sites along the Aqueduct, which is today the Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park—a linear park which runs from Van Cortlandt Park at the Bronx County/City of Yonkers border to the New Croton Dam in Cortlandt.
