Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for April 3, 2020

Dear Residents,

Good afternoon. As of today, Croton has a total of 22 confirmed cases of COVID-19. While we cannot share further information on these individual cases, we wanted to let residents know that the number of cases in the Village continue to increase. We are posting daily updates to the totals on our COVID-19 website, which can be accessed by clicking here.

It is important that residents continue to follow social and physical distancing, especially when using Village trailways and the Riverwalk. According to Johns Hopkins University, social distancing is deliberately increasing the physical space between people to avoid spreading illness. Staying at least six feet away from other people lessens your chances of catching COVID-19. Governor Andrew Cuomo has shown how effective social distancing will help in the fight against COVID-19 by highlighting models designed by McKinsey Companies. High compliance with social distancing should result in 35,000 fewer hospital beds needed and 12,000 less ventilators needed:

According to the Westchester County Department of Health, the most common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and shortness of breath. While most people with COVID-19 are likely to experience mild to moderate disease with full recovery, in more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death. Older adults and those living with serious chronic medicals condition are most at risk for developing severe complications from COVID-19 infection. If you believe that you may be experiencing symptoms like those described above, you should call your medical provider before going to a doctor’s office, urgent care center or emergency room.

We would like to remind all residents that many Village services are able to be conducted online, including the payment of water and tax bills, the renewal of dog licenses and the payment of train station parking permits. To access these forms, and others, please click here.
