2021-2022 Budget Adoption Message

Dear Neighbors:

I am pleased to report that, due to the diligent work of the Village Manager, Treasurer and all of the village's Department Heads and their staffs, the Board of Trustees was able to unanimously approve a budget for Fiscal Year 2021-22.

Our village’s finances have not been exempted from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Non-property tax revenues in the coming year are expected to be 36% lower than they were in the 2019-2020 budget. Nonetheless, we have succeeded in adopting a budget beneath the property tax cap. The total property tax levy is $12,340,998 and comprises approximately 26% of the median household's property tax bill.

The Village Board worked with the staff to reduce operating expenses. Total appropriations are $559,601 lower than the 2019-2020 budget. The adopted budget also reduces total Village debt by $1,822,825.

The adopted budget summary can be found online by clicking here. Additional budget documents will be posted to the Village website as available.

I am proud of the staff and Village Board working together to accomplish this task. Particular thanks are owed to our Village Manager, Janine King, and Village Treasurer, Sandra Bullock, whose fiscal prudence and expert guidance the Village has benefited from tremendously over the years.
