Levins

Sergeant Levins joined the Croton on Hudson Police Department in 2013, after having served in the Mount Vernon NY police department for five years.  Sergeant Levins knew he wanted to be a fire fighter or police officer starting in his teen years.  He attended college and majored in Criminal Justice but left when he felt the call to join the Navy.  Sergeant Levins proudly served in the US Navy for four years.  He had left the Navy and was working for the Croton on Hudson Department of Public Works then the Mount Vernon Police Department offered him a job.  Having enjoyed his time in the Croton DPW, he eagerly returned to work for the Village and the Croton Police Department when the opportunity arose.

While Sergeant Levins is grateful for his extensive experience with the Mount Vernon Police, he likes that Croton Police is a smaller department in a smaller Village. Being a Croton Police officer and now Sergeant, affords him the opportunity to follow a case from beginning to end, not just the handing off a case to another division, as is common in larger police departments.  With fewer calls, he is not rushed to take a quick report and run to the next call.  He can take the time needed to work out the best resolution to a situation, glad for the opportunity to help people.  He enjoys getting to know the residents through Croton’s commitment to community policing.  Along with his patrol duties, Sergeant Levins is one of two certified Firearms instructors for the Croton Police Department.

When Sergeant Levins is off duty, he enjoys time with his family, hiking, target shooting, and exercise.
