Sgt. Turner

At the age of twenty-three, Sergeant Daniel Turner joined the Croton on Hudson Police Department in 1992, after having served 3 years in the Mount Vernon NY Police Department.  In his teen years, Sergeant Turner had thought about a career in the military but, while in college, several of his professors suggested that he consider a career in law enforcement.  Sergeant Turner majored in Criminal Justice and found his calling.  After working in the Mount Vernon department for three years, Sergeant Turner decided he wanted a change.  He heard about an opening in the Croton Police Department and after investigating, he determined that Croton was the perfect fit for him.  Along with being a much smaller department, Croton offered the beauty of the two rivers and nature.

Sergeant Turner’s career in Police work offers him the opportunity to participate in the circle of life, knowing he is making a positive difference in people’s lives.   As a Sergeant, he values the opportunity to watch over younger officers and watch them grow and work effectively with one another to solve issues.

Sergeant Turner has the good fortune to have the full support of his family for his chosen career.  While they worry about the many obstacles and challenges police officers face daily, they are there for him and have encouraged him throughout his career.

In his off-duty hours, Sergeant Turner enjoys vacationing at the shore and the Adirondack mountains with his family, along with fishing, hunting, kayaking, and biking.
