Officer Profile: P.O. Tyler Pece

Police Officer Tyler Pece

Police Officer Tyler Pece is a more recent sworn member of Croton PD. As a new hire one may think that he is less experienced and have fewer accomplishments than more seasoned police officers.  Fortunately for the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, this is not the case!

Officer Pece joined the force in October 2021, following his graduation from the Ulster County Police Academy and his stints with the Town of New Paltz and the State of New York University Police. He s a six year law enforcement professional and Croton offered him an opportunity to thrive in a new and different environment.

Officer Pece brings to our community a remarkable portfolio for someone relatively new to the field. He has specialty certificates through the NY Division of Criminal Justice Services in Implicit Bias Training, is a Field Training Officer, Procedural Justice Instructor and is also Crisis Intervention Team member.  The latter (CIT) is training in addressing mental health crisis situations which require a very delicate hand to achieve a positive outcome. Additionally, Tyler’s experiences at SUNY New Paltz gave him vast insight on how to work with young adults, which is invaluable in our close knit community. These are just some of the tools in Tyler’s toolbox which he brings with him daily; there are others, but in the interest of space I am unable to list them all!

Prior to embarking on his law enforcement career, Tyler attended Penn State University and graduated from Dutchess Community College.  He is currently working towards his bachelors degree.

When not on the job here in 10520, Officer Pece and his wife raise, train and race horses! Their specialty event is barrel racing on the rodeo circuit. Tyler freely admits that his wife is the athlete and he is more of the stablehand, but as in police work it is also a team effort.  When not shoveling out the horse stalls Officer Pece roots for his favorite NY teams, the Yankees, Giants and the Knicks.

We welcome Tyler and his skill set to the village!
