 P.O. Nick DiTomasso

Officer DiTomasso joined the Croton on Hudson Police Department in 2019.  He attended nearby Hendrick Hudson Schools and was graduated from John Jay college with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He started his service to his community as a volunteer fire fighter and knew that public service was something that he wanted to pursue. A relative, who was a police officer was a positive influence on his choice to become an officer. Officer DiTomasso knew that police work was a perfect fit for his desire to help others and his belief in always putting others before himself.  He has not regretted his decision as he very much enjoys working in the small village of Croton.  He is fluent in Spanish, and he likes that he can interact with and provide assistance to our Spanish speaking residents.

Officer DiTomasso feels he was especially lucky to be hired in Croton. He values the opportunity to get to know our residents, an opportunity not always available in larger communities.  He hopes to someday be able have a K-9 unit in our department, knowing that police dogs are a tremendous boost to community policing.  Dogs allow outreach and friendly interaction with children and adults alike and often breakdown barriers between officers and residents. A police dog can also be invaluable in locating a missing child or vulnerable adult. He would also like to pursue a career in the detective division and potentially be promoted to Chief of Police one day.  He loves that the department allows an officer to follow a case through to its conclusion, which is not usually the case in larger departments.  He especially likes that Croton officers are highly trained and skilled in many aspects of police work and are not limited to one area of expertise. Officer DiTomasso is proud to work with a fantastic group of officers.

Officer DiTomasso’s family is very proud of him but worries about his safety.  When off duty, he enjoys spending time with his family, exercise / fitness training, and traveling.  He has been to Europe several times and likes to take more local trips on his weekends off.
