Officer Roper

Officer Roper grew up in Croton on Hudson and joined the Croton on Hudson Police Department in 2009.  Officer Roper has his college degree in graphic design and spent six years in his chosen career prior to becoming an officer.  While working in graphic design he came to realize he did not want to sit in an office all day.  He wanted to be outside and meeting new people daily.  He soon came to realize that being a police officer was the perfect fit for him. Officer Roper took numerous police tests and waited seven long years before he was hired, never wavering from his goal to become an officer.

Becoming a Croton Police Officer is his dream job and his love for his career and Croton specifically is evident after speaking to him for a few minutes.  He loves being an officer in the Village he grew up in and he doesn’t believe there is any better or more fulfilling job anywhere. He loves being able to help people and meeting and interacting with new people and old friends daily.  He often hears from people after he has helped them, and it gives him a great feeling to know he made a positive difference.  He enjoys the community policing aspect of the Croton department, stopping to talk with parents and children in a park, meeting shop owners, and people on the street is just one aspect of the job that fulfills him. He is grateful for the opportunity to get to know people and that they trust him when they have questions, concerns, or issues.  Officer Roper is part of the Bicycle Patrol unit, and he is a certified car seat technician along with a trained school resource officer, in addition to his normal Patrol duties.

Officer Ropers family is extremely proud of him and very supportive of his career, although they miss him greatly when he is at work.

In his off-duty time, Officer Roper enjoys time with his family, bike riding, restoring classic cars, photography, and traveling.
