Officer Profile: Detective Mark Fielding

Detective Mark Fielding

Detective Mark Fielding joined the Croton Police Department as a sworn officer on November 1, 2016 upon transfer from the Dutchess County Sheriffs Office.  As a transferred officer Mark was not required to go through the Westchester County Police Academy since he had successfully completed his training at the Dutchess County Academy.  In fact, Mark scored the highest of all test takers in his admission exam!  Therefore his introduction to the village was merely a field training exercise in which he learned the local streets, schools, houses of worship and other general information about our community. On December 1, 2022 Mark, then currently a patrol officer was promoted to Detective rank and assigned to the Detective Division.

Detective Fielding is a lifelong Duchess County resident, and his background prior to his law enforcement career consists of a three year enlistment in the US Air Force and a degree in Engineering, prior to his time with DCSO.

Mark’s Engineering background comes in handy since he is one of the department’s Accident Reconstruction experts.  In addition to that responsibility, Detective Fielding has taken on the role of grant writer for the department.

His grant applications have garnered the department funding for equipment and extra traffic details which contribute to public safety without further burdening our taxpayers.  Police Chief Nikitopoulos has said that Mark’s successful grant bids have gained the village signifiant revenue and appreciates his efforts.  As a matter of fact,  New York State recently called our village manager to ask who was writing our grant requests since they were so well done!

A hearty thank you to Mark Fielding!
