Weekly Police Blotter: January 4 - January 10

A selection of incidents from the police blotter of the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department. Please note that the below information is public record and does not constitute all calls received by the department during the period.

Narrative: Parking enforcement reported a man sleeping inside a car in the daily lot. Patrol interviewed male, who works for Carvana, and was napping.

Narrative: Caller reported having an argument with her neighbor over the common area bathroom cleanliness. It was determined to be a civil dispute.

Call Type: Fraudulent Activities
Narrative: Caller reported being possibly scammed out of $10,000. Patrol reported the caller had not confirmed if the money was taken out of the bank account, but was concerned when he saw additional money owed via notice by mail from the IRS. Patrol assisted caller in calling their accountant's office to confirm. Accountant was on vacation and will return call when he returns.

Call Type: Neighbor Dispute
Narrative: Caller stated that her neighbors that share a common bathroom didn't clean the water on the floor and her son fell. Patrol dispatched. Caller refused medical attention for her son. Patrol tried to mediate the situation and further explain that it is a civil matter about which she should speak to her landlord.

Narrative: An employee from the Mobil Gas Station reported that someone struck the side of the building. Patrol reported no injuries and will file a report.

Narrative: Caller reported being scammed out of $1,300 via Ebay transaction. Caller sold a laptop and after he shipped it, the buyer rescinded the payment and kept the laptop. Caller was transferred to the detective division, who advised him that it is a civil matter.

Narrative: Caller reported an abandoned vehicle on the street. Vehicle towed.

Narrative: Caller reported six youths playing basketball who are not wearing masks. Upon arrival, patrol advised that all six are wearing masks.

Narrative: Disabled vehicle reported on Route 9 South. Patrol advised the driver was out of gas and had a gas can to fill up. Patrol took him to the Mobil station and brought him back to fill up his car. Condition corrected.

Narrative: Caller reported her two sons are fighting. Patrol responded and arrested one individual who was charged with PL 120.00, Assault in the 3rd Degree. Defendant was arraigned and a temporary order of protection issued for the victim. Victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries via Croton EMS.

Narrative: Caller reported she is having severe back pain. Patrol dispatched. The individual refused medical assistance.

Narrative: Landlord called about a tenant’s wife removing boxes from the office. Caller reported her name is not on the lease and wanted her to stop. Patrol advised her to stop and she did.

Narrative: Caller reported a suspicious man came to read his meters and was concerned it was a scam. Patrol dispatched; party gone on arrival.

Narrative: Caller reported that their Trump flag was stolen again and a note was left that said “loser.” Caller would like it blottered for the record.

Narrative: Caller reported that "Human Resources" contacted him saying there was an unemployment claim in his name but it was denied. Caller wanted a blotter on record.

Narrative: Caller stated a car is registered in her name without her permission. Vehicle is registered out of The Bronx. Caller referred to NYPD and DMV.

Narrative: Caller reported a man came to her door to read the meter but did not have an appointment. Patrol called Con Edison, who stated they have a lot of workers reading meters that are not in uniform but do have IDs on them -- usually around their neck.

Narrative: Elderly man injured from a fall. Patrol on scene. Aided transported to the hospital.

Narrative: Caller reported his car was involved in an accident a few days ago. Patrol responded and conducted an investigation.

Narrative: Victim reported her order of protection was violated when the suspect sent text messages to her. Patrol filed a report and arrested the suspect for PL 215.50, Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree.

Narrative: Caller stated someone entered his property and tried to steal his Trump sign. The caller reported that he has the incideint on camera. Case forwarded to the detective division.

Narrative: Caller reported having issues with his tenant over a contractor working in his bathroom. Tenant refused to allow the contractor inside. Caller wanted the incident blottered due to an ongoing dispute.

Narrative: Caller reported his elderly father with dementia is missing. Patrols checked the Village with negative results. Caller later stated that his father was located at Best Buy in Cortlandt. He had taken the bus there.

Narrative: Caller reported that his neighbor’s house is full of smoke after he extinguished an oven fire. 60 Control was notified for Fire Department dispatch.  Patrols responded and scene handled by FD.

Narrative: Cell phone caller reported a man is lying down in front of the liquor store. Patrol responded and spoke with the man, who was standing and smoking a cigarette. No further assistance required.

Narrative: 60 Control dispatched Croton EMS for a medical alert alarm with no resident contact. Patrol dispatched and reported it was set off accidentally.
