Croton PD to Participate in Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics

Run

The Croton Police Department will once again be participating in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

The mission of The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics (LETR) is to increase awareness and raise funds for Special Olympics. There are 56 torch run legs with nearly 6,000 law enforcement officers from over 470 agencies in attendance. They gather together to run and pass the Special Olympics New York “Flame of Hope” across the State. Each year, these legs converge to a final location in June for the lighting of the cauldron during the Special Olympics New York Summer Games Opening Ceremony.

The run will start early in the day in Yonkers and be in our jurisdiction at approximately 2:00 PM.  Croton-on-Hudson Police Department's leg of the run is approximately 3.5 miles. The run will start on Croton Point Ave, travel north on Riverside Avenue to Albany Post Road, and end at Super Foodtown near Baltic Place on the north end of Croton. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid traffic delays.
