The Sustainability Committee is leading a ‘Community Solar Subscriber Drive’ to encourage residents to take advantage of a new opportunity to support a local solar energy project and save up to ~10% on annual electric bills. Signing up now will also help Croton earn points toward a $20,000 grant for clean energy projects.

Unlike traditional solar, where an array is installed on your roof or property, Community Solar generates electricity from local facilities shared by multiple community subscribers. Anyone in Croton-on-Hudson with a Con Edison account is eligible to subscribe to the new Arcadia Horse Farm Community Solar project, a 268.8 kW DC system that will provide power to over 38 households in Westchester County. The utility pays the Community Solar provider for the energy generated, and each subscriber receives a portion of the dollar value generated by their Community Solar subscription as a credit. There is no fee to participate and residents can unsubscribe any time without penalty. Subscriptions are first-come, first-served, and spaces are limited.
