Right on Red Prohibition Removed from Northbound U.S. Route 9 Exit Ramp onto Croton Point Avenue

The right turn on red prohibition has been removed from the northbound U.S. Route 9 exit ramp onto Croton Point Avenue. The turning prohibition was originally instituted in June 2021, when the traffic lights were activated as part of the Croton Point Avenue Traffic, Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvement Project. However, based on feedback from Village residents and commuters, the New York State Dept. of Transportation has determined that such a prohibition is unnecessary for this intersection. Drivers must make a complete stop before turning while the signal is red; this is to ensure oncoming vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians remain safe.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to fine-tune the regulations and traffic signals along this arterial route.
