MTA Drill at Croton-Harmon Train Station - September 27, 2018

Tomorrow, September 27, 2018, there will be an exercise drill involving the Croton Harmon Train Station between the hours of 6 and 9 a.m. Please give yourself extra time to reach your train in the morning and remember that this is just an exercise and not a real emergency.

Once again, the MTA Police are partnering with New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services and the New York State Police for Operation NY SECURE (Securing the Empire Corridor by Unifying Regional Efforts).

This coordinated effort involves activities such as heightened platform patrols, increased security presence onboard trains, explosives detection canine sweeps, and counter-surveillance measures. The goal of this operation is to improve coordination and response between the railroad police agencies that are responsible for each station, and the state and local law enforcement agencies that will be responding to emergencies at those locations.

The officers will be spread out on platforms and step into the train cars to perform a brief "step-on inspections" as the trains are loading/unloading passengers. MTA PD will be at all the stations listed as well. Metro-North will be making station announcements as well as onboard train announcements to inform all customers of the increased Police presence.

The MTA PD Mobile Command Vehicle will be set up at the Croton-Harmon Station at 0600 hours and NYS DHSES personnel will be on hand as well.
