Storm Watch

A weather system is expected to bring heavy rainfall to our region tomorrow, September 29th. A Flood Watch is currently in effect for Westchester County, with a general 2-4 inches of rain expected, with localized amounts in excess of 5 inches possible. Rainfall rates in excess of 1 inch per hour are possible.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the local forecast, prepare households and vehicles for heavy rain, and use caution when traveling. Visit the Village's Storm Preparedness Page for helpful tips and information.

Excessive Rainfall

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is preparing for the severe weather. Please see below for their press bulletin:

An incoming weather front is expected to gain in intensity late tonight and through tomorrow evening. Check our TrainTime app or mta.info before traveling. Periods of heavy rain may cause flooding and high winds may affect crossing gates or nearby trees. We are positioning our personnel and resources throughout our system to respond, but strongly advise customers to closely monitor our website or app for possible service disruptions.

The Westchester County Police Department is also preparing for the storm. Please see below for pertinent information:

Motorists are advised to use caution when driving in this storm as there is a potential for flash flooding on our parkways and local roadways. Motorists are also reminded to not drive through standing water as it can be deeper than it appears. Vehicles can be swept away when floodwaters are propelled by downpours and high winds. Also, to ensure your safety, never drive around any barricades that were erected to close a parkway or local street.
