Croton-on-Hudson Winter Storm Advisory #1

The Village of Croton-on-Hudson is closely monitoring the winter storm expected to hit our region beginning tomorrow afternoon. The Village has been in communication with Con Edison and the Westchester County Office of Emergency Management regarding preparations and expected impacts.

At this time, the Village is currently under a Winter Storm Watch. We are expecting between 6-12 inches of snow along with up to a quarter-inch of ice. Additionally, gusty winds arrive Sunday afternoon and persist into Monday morning. The combination of snow and ice on trees and power lines, along with gusty winds, presents the possibility of power outages. All residents are encouraged to prepare to be without power. For tips on how to do so, please click here. Should a power outage occur, please notify Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED. The outage map from Con Edison can be viewed online here.

There is also very cold weather expected following the storm. Temperatures Sunday night are expected to drop to 0-5 degrees with wind chills as low as -20 degrees. Linked here are some tips from Consumer Reports regarding the freezing of pipes. Should areas of the village lose power, the Village is prepared to open the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building as a shelter. Please stand by for future emails should the need arise.

As a reminder, the village regulations regarding snow can be accessed by clicking here. It is expected that the on-street parking prohibition will begin Saturday evening.

All residents are strongly encouraged to follow the Village's social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter where updates will be posted, as well as through the village E-Alert system. Additionally, any emergency notifications will be sent via the Code Red system.
