This event will have a "Shotgun" start and is open to everyone regardless of skill level. The cost is $150.00 per golfer. This includes green fees, dinner, contests, prizes and a raffle. Croton Girl Scouts Open House

Discover Girl Scouts! Swing by on Friday, September 21st from 4:30 - 6:00 pm at Asbury United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall (basement). Kids will meet other Girl Scouts and get to try out fun STEM activities, try out some outdoor skills and learn some Girl Scouts traditions. (Did anybody say S’mores?) Community leaders will be there to answer parents’ questions about the benefits of the Girl Scouts leadership program. Refreshments will be served. Drop in at any time and take part of the fun! We already have two NEW Kindergarten troops that are getting started plus openings in older troops as well! Questions? Croton-Harmon Homecoming Week Kick-Off

Croton Reservoir and Dam Hike

Easy 1-mile hike north along the Aqueduct and atop the beautiful Croton Dam.~ Meet near the restrooms at the parking lot at Croton Gorge Park, Rte. 129, Cortlandt, NY 10567. The leader of the hike will discuss the history and construction of the Old Croton Aqueduct and the features of the Croton Dam, the trailhead of the Aqueduct Trail.
 
Introduction to Babysitting
Saturday, September 22 – 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM

Potential babysitters build essential skills for responsible childcare through this four-hour course. Amanda Tucker, a first-grade teacher, gives hands-on instruction on several topics, including: interviewing and communication tips; ages/stages of young babies and toddlers; safety and first-aid; feeding and caring for children (including diaper changing). Amanda holds three teacher certifications – including Early Childhood, General Education and Special Education – and a Master’s Degree in Literacy. She will administer a simple test at the completion of the course and distribute certificates. Bring paper and pen – and your lunch! For youngsters ages 10 and up. Registration required. “Joni and James” – The Music of Joni Mitchell and James Taylor Performed

Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, two songwriting giants, created some of the most endearing and lasting music of all time. Anne Carpenter and Peter Calo visit their immense library of music, performing classics and deep tracks, alike. Peter Calo has been Carly Simon’s guitar player and backing vocalist for the last 20-plus years. During his long relationship with Carly Simon, Peter served as her musical director, occasional producer and even song collaborator. Peter has performed with James Taylor, as well. Anne Carpenter, a bright star on the Westchester music scene, has had her original songs recorded by such artists as Sloan Wainwright. Join Anne and Peter for an intimate and informal evening of great music with guest artist, award-winning producer and composer John Lissauer.

Objects and Memory with Jonathan Fein

What are the things in our homes and museums that mean the most to us? How do we preserve the past and speak to the future? What would you save if your house were on fire? Producer/director Jonathan Fein presents a lecture based on his acclaimed PBS documentary film Objects and Memory. Illustrating his lecture with video, Jonathan explores how otherwise ordinary things become transformed into precious conveyors of experience, emotion, and identity. “Objects and Memory” is jointly presented by the Croton Council on the Arts, the Croton Free Library, and the Croton Friends of History.
