Creative Journaling for Tweens & Teens
Tuesdays in October | 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Croton Free Library, Front Lawn
Join the Croton Free Library to express yourself and find a community through writing, doodling, and more. Led by teacher Lori Jo Siegel, this free club offers the opportunity to experiment creatively and make writing a habit. No particular writing or art skill is required. Short Story Group
Tuesdays in October | 6 PM – 7 PM
Croton Free Library, Front Lawn
If you are interested in reading more often this fall, but do not have time to read an entire book, then join the Croton Free Libraries’ Short Story Group. The group began on Tuesday, September 21, and will run for 6 weeks. Individuals are free to join in at any time during these 6 weeks.
Each week, they will read and discuss a different short story by a contemporary writer.

Journaling with Seniors
Wednesdays in October | 12 PM – 1 PM
Croton Free Library, Ottinger Room
Journaling for Seniors is a new program for community seniors offered by the Croton Free Library. This free club offers older adults the chance to express themselves through writing, doodling, and more. No particular writing or art skills required. Supplies is provided. Offered in partnership with Croton Caring. Space is limited to 12 participants, so sign up today.

Mah Jongg Lessons for Beginners
Thursdays in October | 10 AM – 11 AM
Croton Free Library
Learn the fun and mentally stimulating game of mah jongg with the Croton Free Library. These lessons are open to adults. Sign up for this five-week lesson series for beginners. All players must wear masks.
Space is limited, and seats are capped at 12. Registration is required.

Sandy Richards Wellness

Sandy Richards Wellness programs empowers moms and daughters to develop simple healthy lifestyle habits that can be adopted for the long term. Each program, workshop, retreat, and event are carefully designed for moms and daughters to feel empowered, and motivated to continue to have a healthy & authentic connection together.
This four-part virtual wellness series will feature exercising, cooking, journaling, learning yoga, talking all things sleep, self-care, and clean living.

Community Service Opportunity with the Library: Train the Tutors
Wednesday, October 13 | 3:30 PM – 5 PM
Croton Free Library
Learn to help kids with their schoolwork as a paid job or a volunteer opportunity at the Croton Free Library. Experienced teacher Lee Klein will discuss effective ways to tutor K-8 students and connect with them one-on-one. This free workshop will take place at the library (outdoors if weather permits). Participants will earn 1.5 hours of community service credit. Email gglazer@wlsmail.org to register, and please specify which session you want to join, as there will be a second session on Saturday, October 16 from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM.
 
Croton Trails Clean-Up
Saturday, October 16 | 9 AM – 10:30 AM
Municipal Building
Join members of the Croton Trails Committee to help clean up the various trails in the Village. This is a rain or shine event. Please bring a garbage bag, gloves, water, mask, and any tools that you may find useful (loppers, folding saw, grass whip, etc).
 
Bird Walk
Sunday, October 17, and Wednesday, October 27 | 8 AM
Croton Point Park
Join the Saw Mill River Audubon Society for their bi-monthly bird walk at Croton Point Park. Attendees must register online and space is limited to 20 people. Vaccinations are required of all attendees. If full, join the waitlist as new spaces open weekly. Puppets, Songs, & Story Time

Join the Croton Free Library for puppets, songs, and story time on the front lawn of the Croton Free Library. Make puppets from favorite characters in stories and songs! The library plans to nurture imagination and creativity in a fun environment, create puppets of all kinds and use them to act out stories. Perfect for kids 4-8 years old and free for everyone.
 
Peekskill Amateur Radio Club Presentation

Croton Point History Hike
Saturday, October 23 | 9 AM – 11 AM
Croton Point Park
Join the Croton Historical Society to explore Croton Point’s fascinating history—particularly the legends about the place where Captain Kidd was said to have buried treasure. The hike will last roughly 1.5 to 2 hours.
This event is free. Meet at the gate to the RV park, where parking is available. Ages 6 and up; wear sturdy shoes.
 
Halloween Window Painting
Saturday, October 23 | 9 AM – 2 PM
Get into the spirit of the season by decorating a Halloween-themed window. The annual Halloween Window Painting is being coordinated with participating stores throughout the Village. The rain date will be Sunday, October 24, from 9 AM to 2 PM.

Pumpkin Painting with the Croton Police Department
Saturday, October 23 | 2 PM – 5 PM
Vassallo Park
Join the Croton Police Department for Pumpkin Painting. Bring your children and enjoy some seasonal fun! Come dressed in your spookiest Halloween costumes. Refreshments, snacks, and entertainment will be provided.
In the occurrence of rain, the event will be held at the Municipal Building, community room.
 
Flu & Covid-19 Shots
Sunday, October 24 | 1 PM – 5 PM
Croton Free Library
The Croton Free Library will be hosting a pop-up vaccine clinic in conjunction with Sav-Mor Pharmacy for anyone age 4+ (flu vaccine) or 12+ (Covid-19 vaccine).  Get your flu vaccine, Covid-19 vaccine, or both, at the Croton Free Library. No appointment is required. The event will be outdoors, weather permitting. If raining, the event will be held inside the library. Please wear a mask and bring your insurance card. The shots are free with most major insurances.

Christopher Columbus and Indigenous Peoples Day
