Come ID and count birds at the bird feeders at Croton Point Nature Center with volunteers from Saw Mill River Audubon viewing the feeders from inside the Center. Beginners encouraged. Monday Morning Bird Walk

Monday, November 26 – 8:30 AM

Croton Point Park

Walk begins 8:30 am in the ballfield park of Croton Point Park on the left as you enter the park. Come birding with us! Beginners encouraged. If you want to borrow a pair of binoculars for the walk, call the office at 914-666-6503; otherwise no RSVP needed. We go rain or shine! But if road conditions are uncertain on the morning of the walk, check our Google calendar at www.sawmillriveraudubon.org to see if the walk is on.

 

Teen/Tween Workshop - Earring Design with Joan Lloyd

Tuesday, November 27 – 3 to 5 PM

Croton Free Library

Express your creative side with artist Joan Lloyd, as she teaches you how to design and bead your very own earrings in this two-hour workshop. Choose from a vast variety of colorful beads to make one-of-a-kind earrings for yourself or a special someone. You’ll also have an opportunity to donate an additional pair of earrings of your own design to a local women’s shelter. Registration required. Assemblywoman Sandy Galef’s Town Meeting

Join Assemblywoman Galef as she hosts a discussion with experts who are for and against the legalization of recreational marijuana in New York. Joining the Assemblywoman will be Kaven Sabet, PhD, President and CEO of Smart Approaches to Marijuana and Cristina Buccola, Esq., Founder of Cristina Buccola Counsel and former General Counsel to High Times Magazine. Annual Christmas Fair

Saturday, December 1 – 9 AM to 3 PM

Our Saviour Lutheran Church

The fair will feature handmade Christmas crafts, tables by vendors, raffle, bake sale and a boutique. There will also be a café for refreshments and games for children.

 

Croton Reservoir & Dam Hike

Saturday, December 1 – 10 AM

Croton Gorge Park

Easy 2-mile hike north along the Aqueduct and atop the beautiful Croton Dam.  Meet near the restrooms at the parking lot at Croton Gorge Park, Rte. 129, Cortlandt, NY 10567. The leader of the hike will discuss the history and construction of the Old Croton Aqueduct and the features of the Croton Dam, the trailhead of the Aqueduct Trail.  The Aqueduct was completed in 1842 to supply water to a thirsty New York City.

 

Silent Films – Comic Genius Buster Keaton

The gift of laughter launches the holiday season at the Croton Free Library. Join us for an evening starring comic genius Buster Keaton in his black-and-white, silent film “Sherlock, Jr.” (1924) and the side-splitting short “Scarecrow” (1920). Dazzling cinematic inventiveness meets gymnastic physical humor to create Keaton’s inimitable comedy. Pianist Jesse Beller provides live, original accompaniment – with extraordinary style and flair.

 

Croton Community Blood Drive

Sunday, December 2 – 9 AM to 3 PM

Croton-Harmon High School

Join the Croton-on-Hudson community in supporting the semi-annual community blood drive! Started in 1970, the drive has been responsible for collecting over 25,000 pints of blood over the years. Appointments are encouraged; to make an appointment, please contact 271-7645 or crotonblood@gmail.com.
