Croton Academy of Arts Summer Program Registration

Registration is open now for Croton Academy of Arts (CAA) in-person performance, crafts and fine arts summer camps for students of all ages. These fun, creative offerings are taught by outstanding artistic professionals and include the return of “CACA” Improv and Sketch Writing for Grades 5 and up; and new camps, Theatre and Dance for all grades, Fairytale Theatre for grades K-2 and Myths, Legends and Fables for grades 3-4. With the exception of Camp caca, all camps are half day programs and many can be mixed and matched to create full day programs. Discounts are available for multiple registrations. Asbury Treasure Chest Sale
Friday-Saturday, May 7-8

The Treasure Chest is open again! Masks and social distancing are required. Hours on May 7 are 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.; hours on May 8 are 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Bargains galore – there are toys, jewelry, children’s clothing, décor items, women’s accessories and more. All moms will receive a complimentary mini-plant in celebration of Mother’s Day (while supplies last). For more information, please call 914-329-2694.
 
COVID Commemorative Grove Dedication

Croton Landing
 
This grove, located at Croton Landing, will be dedicated to the many residents and businesses of Croton-on-Hudson who were adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that began in the year 2020. The Croton Rotary conceived of this space to commemorate the resilience the community demonstrated in overcoming the severe challenges presented by this disease. Those efforts exemplify the Rotary philosophy of “Service Above Self.”
 
Art After Dark
Friday-Saturday, May 7-8 – 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Croton Free Library
 
Mark your calendars for May 7 & 8, when the familiar facade of the Library will become a digital canvas! After sunset, Croton artist Motomichi Nakamura will transform the facade of the Library with a digital art installation. His creative projections transform our familiar local surroundings with monsters — multifaceted creatures who are simultaneously monstrous and endearing; mysterious and playful. Free, outdoors, and open to all! Bring your mask and stay socially distanced while you enjoy the exhibit. Warbler Walk at Croton Point
Saturday, May 8 – 9:30 a.m.
Croton Point Nature Center
 
See and hear colorful warblers and other migrants on their way north, while new arrivals and resident bird species establish nesting territories. Hike led by park naturalist. Ages nine and up. Meet at nature center. 10 participants; registration required by calling the nature center: (914) 862-5297.
 
Croton Community Blood Drive
Saturday, May 8 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Municipal Building Community Room
 
The New York Blood Center will be hosting blood drives in the Community Room at the Municipal Building during the month of May. To remain in compliance with the federal guidelines for social distancing, appointments preferred. Walk-ins welcome if drive capacity permits. Spring Tree Giveaway
Saturday, May 8 – 2 p.m.
Vassallo Park
 
The Croton Conservation Advisory Council (CCAC) will once again be sponsoring a tree giveaway in recognition of Earth Day. Village residents are welcome to stop by Vassallo Park on Saturday, May 8, from 2 to 4 p.m., or while supplies last, and pick up a sapling. The tree saplings are small, bare-root plants and are varied.
 
Screen-Free Bingo Challenge

On Saturday, May 15, the CHUFSD Health and Wellness Committee is inviting the Croton-Harmon community to turn off their screens for 24 hours and take the Screen-Free Bingo Challenge. Here is how to participate! Use this link to check out some fun screen-free activities planned for May 15th. Prefer to create your own bingo board? You can fill in the blank one with screen-free activities you engaged in, too!
