Croton Friends of History - Women's History Month Celebration

To celebrate Women’s History Month, the illustrious Cornelia Cotton will tell the stories of 21 outstanding Croton women, starting with glittering opera star Lillian Nordica, and ending with another world famous singer, Jessye Norman. In between, we will learn about a great poet, famous actresses of stage and screen, brave fighters for women’s rights, and Elizabeth Duncan, who directed her sister Isadora’s first school in America here in Croton, and other women who made major contributions to the world—and to our village, adding to its luster.
 
Mah Jongg lessons at the Croton Free Library

Registration is open for March mah jongg lessons at the Croton Free Library! This is a four-week session on Thursday mornings -- March 9, 16, 23 & 30 -- from 10-11am. This may be our last series of lessons for several months, so if you've been meaning to learn to play or to get a refresher, now is the time! Free and open to all, but registration is required. Croton Academy of Arts: Grimm & Gloom: A Collection of Tales from the Brothers Grimm

Croton Academy of Arts is presenting “Grimm & Gloom: A Collection of Tales from the Brothers Grimm,” at its studio theatre on Friday, March 10, at 7:00 pm, and on Sunday, March 12, at 3:00 pm. General admission tickets are $10, and can be purchased at www.crotonacademy.org/tickets, or at the door. The cast of nineteen actors are from grades 3 through 11. Croton Academy of Arts, a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit corporation, is located at 8 Old Post Road South, Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Spring 2023 Stuff the Truck Food Drive @ ShopRite

Croton Caring will be conducting a 'Stuff the Truck' food drive at ShopRite of Croton on Saturday, March 11th. Croton Croton Caring provides food baskets to individuals and families in need four times per year (Spring, Summer, Thanksgiving and Winter Holidays). Each family receives 4-6 boxes of much-needed food items on delivery day. Click here for a list of needed food items. Volunteers are also needed to assist on the day of the event.

ADULT 60+ TRIP: Florrie Kaye's Tearoom

Travel to nearby Carmel for Afternoon Tea at the charming Florrie Kaye’s Tearoom. Enjoy tea sandwiches, miniature desserts, and classic British scones with cream, jam and butter. You will also receive your own pot of tea selected from among their ninety available varieties. $45 for residents, $48 for non-residents. Fee includes transportation, tea party, tax & gratuity. Kayak & Canoe storage is available at Echo Canoe Launch & Croton Landing. Village Residents may register for the upcoming season by lottery from March 15 – April 8. Afterwards, available spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Non-Residents / School District Residents may register after April 11. Applications will be available online & the Croton Recreation Department.

National Quilting Day

Celebrate National Quilting Day and help make quilts to be donated to Lutheran World Relief for distribution to people in need around the world. Drop in any time between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. No experience is necessary and light refreshments will be served. The organizers are seeking donations of clean cotton fabric yardage, sheets, and curtains that can be repurposed into quilts.

Join the Croton Free Library for a screening of: "The Leatherman: An American Vagabond" A Documentary Film by Jon Scott Bennett Saturday, March 18 at 7pm When a strange unkempt man dressed head to toe in leather began traveling the roads of New York and Connecticut, the people of the region immediately took notice. Yet his name, origins, and reasons for wandering have never been explained. This created an air of mystery around the figure who has come to be known as "The Leatherman." Local filmmaker Jon Scott Bennett will present his film and participate in a Q&A afterward. Free and open to all! This program is not appropriate for young children.
 
Croton Business Council Gumbo Smackdown Fundraiser

5 talented local chefs will square off at the Green Growler to see who makes the best gumbo in Croton. Limited tickets available. $50/person, price includes one drink. Croton Kids Garden

Croton Kids Garden is a new local organic gardening program for kids and adults. Croton Kids Garden for health, gardening, and friendship during Spring kids classes on Fridays (starts April 14) or Sundays (starts March 19) and Moms sowing classes on Saturdays. The class will sow vegetable, herb, and flower seeds, watch plants grow, and add them to home gardens for a season of abundance. More information is available at www.crotonkidsgarden.com/signup.

Registration Open Now - Course takes place on Sunday, March 26th, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

The Croton Yacht Club, located at 6 Elliott Way in Croton-on-Hudson, will be hosting a New York State Boating Safety & Personal Watercraft Certification Course on Sunday, March 26th from 9:00 AM – 5:00PM. The course is being offered by the New York Boating Safety organization and the fee is $70.00 per student. Pre-registration is suggested by visiting: NEW YORK BOATING SAFETY (nyboatingsafety.com). 
 
Community Blood Drive

2023 Community Survey on Safety and Law Enforcement

The Police Advisory Committee and the Police Department encourage all residents to take a few minutes and complete the 2023 Community Survey on Safety and Law Enforcement. Village residents are asked to share thoughts, views, and experiences to enable the Police Department to best serve the community. All feedback is welcomed and needed.
