Great Loop Paddle Welcome

Ten paddlers representing the Haudenosaunee nations will make a stop at Croton-on-Hudson during their 1,500-mile canoe journey from Old Town, Maine to New York Harbor, known as the 'Great Loop'. The effort, which is being documented by National Geographic, is intended to raise awareness of Indigenous relationships with local waters and the importance of environmental conservation. The group, led by Hickory Edwards, founder of the Onondaga Canoe and Kayak Club and member of the Onondaga Nation Turtle Clan, is expected to land at Senasqua Park on June 21st around 6:00 p.m., where they will be welcomed by residents and engage in a conversation about their historic journey. They will set out again in the morning to continue their upriver travel to Stony Point.

Join The Lorraine Hansberry Coalition on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton-on-Hudson, NY, for a special screening of the documentary "Mississippi: Is This America? (1963-1964) Freedom Summer,” part of the award-winning Eyes on the Prize television series that traces the history of civil rights in the United States from 1954-1980. After the screening, there will be a moderated discussion with Steven Lance, Policy Counsel at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. Croton Harmon Community Tennis Association Clinics & Lessons

The Croton Harmon Community Tennis Association (aka Croton Community Tennis) is a not-for-profit community organization of the USTA, formed and run by volunteers to maintain the red clay courts at PVC Middle School and offer tennis programming and lessons for the Croton community. Open Gardens Day

Healthy Yards has scheduled a county-wide Open Gardens Day to visit private and public gardens featuring pollinator plantings. In Croton-on-Hudson, the Arboretum will have a professional garden designer on hand in our pollinator and other specialty gardens to identify and answer questions about the best plants for success in local gardens throughout all four seasons of the year. Movie Night at Senasqua Park - Toy Story 4

July 4th Revolutionary History Re-enactment Showcase

This Independence Day, join local historian Duane Jackson on the grounds of the Van Cortlandt Manor for a Revolutionary History Re-enactment Showcase. Costumed presenters will portray soldiers in the 1st Rhode Island Regiment and  2nd New York Regiments, exploring local battles fought by a pioneering regiment of Black soldiers in the Revolutionary War. The presentation will last approximately 2 hours.

The Showcase will feature the origin and history of the First Rhode Island Regiment, the Battle of Rhone Island fought by First Rhode Island Regiment, the Battle of Pine Bridge fought in Yorktown Heights, NY by the First Rhode Island Regiment, an overview of the Continental Army, the history of the 2nd New York Regiment, a description of what the soldiers wore, how they lived and fought and a demonstration of the firing of a musket.
