Diversity & Inclusion Committee Listening Session

The Diversity & Inclusion Committee is hosting their inaugural event on Thursday, June 20. The purpose of the event is for hearing stories on, and understanding issues of, diversity and inclusion that affect our community and its members. All are welcome. The Croton-on-Hudson Diversity & Inclusion Committee strives to develop and implement programs designed to create a spirit of diversity and inclusion for all who live, work in, and visit Croton. Your contributions during this listening session will help the committee shape future events and priorities.

 

Intro to TinkerCad

Library 3D experts will show how to create simple 3D objects using the web-based free software application (TinkerCad). Use basic shapes to put together a design and they’ll show you some of the things you can do with them. Registration Required. Sign up in person or call (914-271-6612) during library hours. Bird Walk

Monday, June 24 – 7:30 AM

Croton Point Park

Come birding with the Saw Mill River Audubon Society! Birders should meet in the ballfield parking lot on the left as you enter the park. Beginners encouraged; no RSVP needed. Walks are held rain or shine! But if road conditions are uncertain on the morning of the walk, check www.sawmillriveraudubon.org or call the office at 914-666-6503 to see if the walk is on.

 

Croton Reservoir & Dam Hike

Saturday, June 29 – 2 PM

Croton Gorge Park

Easy 2-mile (total) hike north along the Aqueduct and atop the beautiful Croton Dam. Meet near the restrooms at the parking lot at Croton Gorge Park (Note: parking fee of $10 May – Sept.) The leader of the hike will discuss the history and construction of the Old Croton Aqueduct and the features of the Croton Dam, the trailhead of the Aqueduct Trail. The Aqueduct was completed in 1842 to supply water to a thirsty New York City.

 

Roots/Shorashim/Judur – A local Palestinian/Israeli Initiative

Sunday, June 30 – 1 to 3 PM

Temple Israel of Northern Westchester

Join Shadi Abu Awwad and Hanan Schlesinger as they tell their personal stories and of their efforts to build a better future for their peoples. They come with no ready peace plans in hand, but only with the conviction that human understanding and trust will be the prerequisites for lasting justice, freedom and peace on that tiny sliver of land that they both call home.
