New York State Independent Redistricting Commission Public Hearing

Pursuant to Article III, Section 4(c) of the New York State Constitution, the New York State Independent Redistricting Commission will hold a series of twelve public hearings across the state to receive feedback on its draft redistricting plan for court ordered New York State Assembly districts. The Constitution requires the Commission to hold twelve hearings in the cities of Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, and White Plains, as well as the counties of Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, and Suffolk. Further information regarding these hearings is available on the Commission’s website, www.NYIRC.gov. Recordings of the hearings will be made available to the public following each hearing’s completion.

Wellness Wednesdays at the Croton Free Library

Join the Croton Free Library for Wellness Wednesdays! Center your mind and body during the long winter months with exercise specialist Caryl DePalma. Build strength, improve flexibility, and create balance. This is a gentle exercise class suitable for those with mobility limitations, and will be adapted to the level of each participant. Free and open to all adults and seniors. No registration required, but class size limited to 15. First come, first served! Please come a few minutes early. Please bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. Exercise bands will be provided. Bring hand weights if you have them, but they're not required! This session runs from 1-2pm every Wednesday for 8 weeks, starting Feb. 1. This program is supported by the NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.

Robots: Activate! at the Croton Free Library

Students in grades 4-8 can grow and expand programming skills by applying them to fun robotics challenges! We’ll use a Scratch-like coding environment to operate robots made from Vex robotics kits. Winter Sowing, pioneered by Trudi Davidoff, is an easy method of starting seeds using nothing more than recycled containers, potting soil, and duct tape. Start seeds for a pot on your front step or for a whole vegetable garden. In February 1898, Croton-on-Hudson officially became a village. Join the Croton 125th Anniversary Committee for a celebration at Croton-Harmon High School auditorium with local and high school musicians and performers, our very own Village Board of Trustees, and Village Historian, Marc Cheshire. There will be music, reenactments, a glimpse of Croton in the late 1800s, cake, refreshments, and more! This event is free and open to the public.
