Wellness Wednesdays at the Croton Free Library

Join the Croton Free Library for Wellness Wednesdays! Center your mind and body during the long winter months with exercise specialist Caryl DePalma. Build strength, improve flexibility, and create balance. Free and open to all adults and seniors. No registration required, but class size limited to 15. First come, first served! Please come a few minutes early. This session runs from 1-2pm every Wednesday for 8 weeks, starting Feb. 1. This program is supported by the New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.
 
Robots: Activate! at the Croton Free Library

Students in grades 4-8 can grow and expand programming skills by applying them to fun robotics challenges! We’ll use a Scratch-like coding environment to operate robots made from Vex robotics kits. Teatown’s 19th Annual Hudson River EagleFest returns to Croton Point Park on Saturday February 4, 2023 for an all day celebration! The program includes thrilling live bird shows spotlighting birds of prey, bird walks where you can view eagles through spotting scopes, heated tents filled with educational displays and exhibits, crafts and games for children, food trucks, and more! Winter Sowing, pioneered by Trudi Davidoff, is an easy method of starting seeds using nothing more than recycled containers, potting soil, and duct tape. Start seeds for a pot on your front step or for a whole vegetable garden. Open to all adults - $5 Resident/$8 School District or Non-Resident. Register online or fill out & return this form to the Recreation Department.

Have you tried a Spice of the Month kit from the Library yet? Explore new spices, new cuisines, and new cultures. Every month, pick up a kit that includes a sample of a featured spice, background info about the spice’s origins, and recipes from the Library's cookbook collection. New kits are released the first Monday of the month, and February's spice will be released on Monday, Feb. 6! First come, first served. Come pick yours up any time during the Library's regular hours.

In February 1898, Croton-on-Hudson officially became a village. Join the Croton 125th Anniversary Committee for a celebration at Croton-Harmon High School auditorium with local and high school musicians and performers, our very own Village Board of Trustees, and Village Historian, Marc Cheshire. There will be music, reenactments, a glimpse of Croton in the late 1800s, cake, refreshments, and more! This event is free and open to the public. Five Towns, One Book: The Life of Lorraine Hansberry

The Coalition for Understanding Racism through Education (CURE) will host the third annual Five Towns, One Book celebration! This County-wide event focuses on the multifaceted and brilliant Lorraine Hansberry with a new, inspired biography of her life. Dr. Soyica Diggs Colbert — Georgetown professor and author of Radical Vision, A Biography of Lorraine Hansberry — will participate in a roundtable chat with Lynda Jones of The Lorraine Hansberry Coalition, among others. This event is free and open to all, but registration is required and space is limited!
