April 30, 2021

Dear Croton-Harmon Students, Parents, Staff and Community,

With the district’s budget vote and trustee election taking place in just a few weeks, I want to provide the community with the most recent budget information and let you know where you can find materials with details about the budget, ballot propositions and related topics.

The 2021-22 budget, in the amount of $50,775,098, was adopted by the Croton-Harmon Board of Education on April 20. The tax levy is 1.43%, which is within the allowable tax cap and down from 1.71% last year. The presentation given at the April 20 meeting, along with all other presentations about the budget, can be found at www.chufsd.org/budget. There, you will also find a sample ballot and two fact sheets - one about the budget and district priorities and the other focused on the transportation propositions that will appear on the ballot this year. The transportation proposition document includes information about each of the four propositions, as well as the outcome of each voting scenario.

Recognizing that there is an abundance of information related to this year’s budget and ballot propositions, including the impacts of COVID-19 and federal and state aid, we have also prepared an in-depth Question & Answer (Q&A) document. Additionally, our annual budget newsletter, including the required budget notice, will be mailed to all residents and posted on our website.

The public will have the opportunity to have any questions related to the budget or propositions answered during the Public Budget Hearing at the May 6 Board of Education meeting. Questions can also be emailed at any time to budget.questions@chufsd.org.

Finally, I want to thank our community again for its input and partnership in the development of our annual budget. Voting takes place, in-person, on May 18 from 6:00am - 9:00pm at the Croton-Harmon High School. Any questions about voter eligibility or applying for an absentee ballot can be directed to tracey.borges@chufsd.org. And, remember, your vote counts!

Yours in Mission Possible,

Dr. Deborah O'Connell
