Today is an Air Quality Action Day!

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has issued an Air Quality Advisory for the Long Island, New York City Metro, and Western New York regions for Friday, June 9, 2023.

The pollutant of concern is: Fine Particulate Matter

The advisory will be in effect from 12 a.m. through 11:59 p.m.

The air quality is forecasted to reach 'Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups' Air Quality Index levels on Friday in the Long Island, New York City Metro, and Western NY regions. Residents can monitor local air quality conditions through the Village's Air Quality tracker, which reports real-time air quality data collected at sensors located at the Municipal Building and DPW Garage: https://www.crotononhudson-ny.gov/home/pages/air-quality-tracker. Additional information is available on DEC and on DOH websites.

A reminder that the Village of Croton-on-Hudson and Westchester County have enacted Anti-Idling Laws to prohibit the idling of vehicles for more than three consecutive minutes. Every minute of idling wastes fuel and affects the air quality of our area. Croton Police Officers will be issuing tickets to any vehicles found to be in violation of the law. Please do your part and not let your vehicle idle!
