4.8 Magnitude Earthquake felt in Croton-on-Hudson

The Village of Croton-on-Hudson, along with neighboring regions in the tristate area, experienced a minor earthquake around 10:23 a.m. this morning. According to the US Geological Survey, the seismic event, which registered a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale, originated from an epicenter in New Jersey. 

Thankfully, there have been no reports of injuries or damage to critical infrastructure in our Village. Residents should check for gas or water leaks, or any potential structural damage to their homes.

The Village is maintaining close communication and collaboration with local and state authorities to stay informed about seismic activity, as aftershocks are common following an earthquake.
