Public Input Workshop 3/8/01 - Part 1

SUMMARY OF WORKSHOP 3
MARCH 8, 2001

Buckhurst Fish & Jacquemart, Inc.

On March 8, 2001, Croton’s Comprehensive Plan Committee and Buckhurst Fish & Jacquemart, Inc. (BFJ) conducted the third public workshop for the Comprehensive Plan.  This workshop focused on issues relating to four topics: transportation, parks and recreation, and housing and community facilities and was designed to elicit residents’ input and recommendations on these issues.

The workshop began with remarks by Ann Gallelli, chair of the Comprehensive Plan Committee.  Paul Buckhurst, Georges Jacquemart, Elana Vatsky Mass and Bonnie Braine of BFJ then gave a slide presentation highlighting assets and issues relating to the four workshop topics.

After a short break, participants divided into groups to discuss each of the topics in greater depth.  Each group was asked to identify issues and develop recommendations that would address these issues.  After a 45-minute discussion period, each group presented its findings to the workshop participants.  The issues and recommendations developed during the roundtable discussions are presented on the following pages.

This workshop was the final in a series of three public workshops designed to elicit residents’ ideas and input on issues in the Village.  The first workshop, held in August of 2000, presented a range of Village issues, from housing and commercial development to transportation and environmental issues.  The second workshop, held in January of 2001, focused on commercial development.  Together, the ideas developed in these three workshops will be used to help shape the focus and refine the objectives of the Comprehensive Plan.
