Residential Tax Payment

Payment Schedule
Your residential property tax liability is divided into four (4) components as follows:

1. Village of Croton-on-Hudson Property Tax:

Due each June 1, payable without penalty by July 1, unless the first day of the month falls on a weekend. This tax would then be due on the first business day of July. This tax bill is mailed out in late May and covers the period from June 1st to May 31st. Checks are payable to the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, and mailed to the address found on the front of the tax bill. You may also pay in person at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building located at One Van Wyck Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. If you have an escrow account your bank usually remits the payment. Please notify the Tax Receiver if you wish to cancel your escrow account and have your bill mailed directly to you. If you refinance during the fiscal year, your escrow account may not get updated in the Village’s tax database. Please notify the tax office of any changes in your escrow agent. Be aware that the Westchester County Clerk’s office is six to eight months behind in recording deeds. This may make a difference to a property owner that refinances or sells.

2. Town of Cortlandt Property Tax:

Due each April 1st payable by April 30th. This tax bill is mailed out in late March and covers the period from January 1st to December 31st. Checks are payable to the Town of Cortlandt Tax Receiver, 1 Heady Street, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567.

3. Westchester County Property Tax:
 
Due each April 1st payable by April 30th. This tax bill is mailed out in late March and covers the period from January 1st to December 31st. Checks are payable to the Town of Cortlandt Tax Receiver, 1 Heady Street, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567. Please note that this tax and the Town of Cortlandt property tax are combined on the same bill.


4. School Tax:

Is paid in two (2) installments. The first half is due each September 1st payable by September 30th. The second half is due each January 1st payable by January 31st. This tax bill is mailed out in late August and covers the period from July 1st to June 30th. Checks are payable to the Town of Cortlandt Tax Receiver, 1 Heady Street, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567. This is the only tax bill that is paid in two (2) installments. The S.T.A.R. exemption is ONLY applicable to the school tax.

Postmarks are valid only if done at the U.S. Post Office, on or before the final due date.  
 
Foreign country postmarks and/or private/corporate postage machines postmarks are not acceptable proof of timely payments.
