Click It or Ticket Campaign: May 23-June 5, 2022

The Croton Police Department will be participating in #ClickItorTicket, a statewide enforcement campaign designed to save lives and reduce the severity of injuries by increasing safety restraint use, from May 23rd through June 5th, 2022.

Officers will be conducting the campaign throughout the Village. This campaign is sponsored by the The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee of New York.

New York State estimates that 94% of motorists in New York use their seat belts. While that is a high rate of compliance, the goal is 100%.

As we approach the start of the campaign, please be advised that the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law section regarding seat belt use has been modified. The changes are listed below.

**Effective November 1, 2020:

• All motor vehicle passengers aged 16 and older must be restrained by a seat belt.

• Backseat passengers in a taxi or livery who are 16 years of age or older must be restrained by a seat belt.

• All passengers in a taxi or livery who are 8-15 years of age must be restrained by a seat belt.
