Assessment Consolidation - Town of Cortlandt
On November 6, 2024, the Village of Croton-on-Hudson introduced Local Law Introductory No. 14 of 2024, which proposes to consolidate the Village’s assessing unit. If enacted, the law will eliminate the position of Village Assessor and the Board of Assessment Review, and property taxes in the Village will be based on the assessment roll of the Town of Cortlandt.
On November 20, 2024, the Village Board of Trustees held a public hearing on Local Law No. 14 of 2024. The Board closed the public hearing and did not vote on the local law that evening.
The Village Manager and staff undertook additional research on assessment consolidation and re-presented the local law and below documents to the Board on February 18, 2025.
On March 12, 2025, the Village Board of Trustees held a second public hearing. After further discussion by the Board, the law was adopted on March 26, 2025, and became Local Law No. 5 of 2025.
The Village and Town will be holding a webinar on assessment and Grievance Day on April 29, 2025, at 7 p.m. Please click the following link to register for the webinar: https://tinyurl.com/CrotonCortlandtWebinar.
