Update on Disruptive Music in Croton-on-Hudson

The Croton-on-Hudson Police Department has continued to investigate the source of the disruptive music that has affected residents over the past several weeks. Earlier this evening, Chief of Police John Nikitopoulos provided the Village Board of Trustees with an update on the investigation; video from the meeting can be seen here.

Following last Saturday’s early morning music, the department received information indicating that the music was being broadcast from a vehicle equipped with multiple large speakers within Haverstraw Beach State Park. Through the diligent work of the detective division, the vehicle and its owner were identified. The Haverstraw Police Department was subsequently notified and advised of this development. Officers from that agency made contact with the individual and instructed him to refrain from playing music during the late-night and early-morning hours.

It is our hope that this intervention will resolve the issue moving forward. However, should the problem persist, the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department has established specific contacts with the New York State Park Police, Westchester County Police and Haverstraw Town Police to assist in addressing any future incidents.
