Community members are invited to discuss their questions and concerns with the trustees of the Croton-Harmon Board of Education prior to the regular meeting. Registration is not required—interested individuals are welcome to stop by and share their thoughts.
Croton-Harmon Union Free School District Board of Education Regular Meeting
The Croton-Harmon Union Free School District Board of Education Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. for a regular meeting. The meeting will take place in the Library at Croton-Harmon High School, 36 Old Post Road South.
Summer Concert Series: Mike Risko Band
Summer isn't over yet! Bring a chair and join us for one more free concert at Senasqua Park. All are welcome! Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Baked by Susan. The Mike Risko Band is ready to bring the heat and get you rockin'! Expect a mix of crowd-pleasing rock hits and some fun pop tunes, spanning across different decades and genres.
Writers Circle
Looking for a group where you can share and workshop the fiction, personal narratives, or memoir you've been writing? The Writers Circle is a weekly writing group at the Croton Free Library. Led by local writer and writing instructor Meredith Phillips, this program provides structure and community around a writing practice, and gives writers a chance to share their work and have it discussed and constructively critiqued. Writers will submit works before each meeting, according to a schedule created before class begins. All skill levels welcome! This program is intended for adults. Registration is required, so sign up online or call us at 914-271-6612. Regular attendance is expected to encourage productive participation. This session meets every Friday, starting Sept. 6 and ending Oct. 25.
“Hudson River Day” at the Croton Yacht Club
Join the Croton Yacht Club for their annual Hudson River Day, a family-friendly event celebrating the history and ecology of the Hudson River. Activities include seining exhibitions, sailboat rides, youth fishing clinic, hands-on exhibits for kids, and local artist displays. Free admission, with food and beverages available. Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg Mobile Office Hours
Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg's office is hosting mobile office hours to bring the services of the district office to all corners of AD95. Residents are encouraged to stop by to get help navigating state agencies, information about state programs and resources, and more.
Mobile Passport Office
Westchester County Clerk Timothy Idoni’s community outreach staff will be visiting the Municipal Building in the Mobile Passport Truck. The staff will be able to assist you in applying for a passport, renewing a passport, preserving military discharge papers, or filing a business certificate. In-person notary services will also be available.

Tri-Municipal 9/11 Memorial Ceremony
Please join us in honoring and remembering all the lives lost on this tragic day. A shuttle van will be available to transport attendees to the Memorial site. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Harmon Firehouse, located at 30 Wayne Street, Croton-on-Hudson.
Train the Tutors for High School Students
High-school students can learn to help kids with their schoolwork as a volunteer opportunity or a paid job! Travis Moll, experienced tutor and teacher at PVC, will discuss effective ways to help K-8 students and connect with them one-on-one. This program qualifies high-school students to volunteer in the Library's Homework Help tutoring program to earn community service hours. This free workshop will take place in the Library's Creative Space. Participants will earn one hour of community service credit for the training. Registration required! Join the Library for a monthly chess workshop with USCF Rated Coach Kenaya Massaline! Participants will learn strategies and techniques, improve problem-solving skills, play friendly matches, and practice the timeless game of chess in a welcoming environment. No registration required! Open to kids & teens of all skill levels. Kids under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
Film Screening & Discussion: "The Peekskill Riots: Episode One"
Join the Croton Free Library for a screening of: "The Peekskill Riots: Episode One" A Documentary Film by Jon Scott Bennett.
This first episode of a five-part docu-series will serve not only as an introduction to the story of the concerts, but it will also introduce the headlining performer, Paul Robeson, the first and last casualty of the Peekskill Riots. Local filmmaker Jon Scott Bennett will present his film and participate in a Q&A afterward. Free and open to all! This program is not appropriate for young children.
Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze 2024
Over 7,000 hand-carved jack o’ lanterns illuminate historic landscapes with themed displays, synchronized lights, and a unique soundtrack. The Hudson Valley location celebrates its 20th year with new features, including a Gourd and Goblet VIP Tavern experience and a pumpkin Kraken. Village-Wide Tag Sale
The annual Croton-on-Hudson Village-Wide Tag Sale will take place on Saturday, September 14th, from 10 AM to 4 PM, with a rain date of Sunday, September 15th. Register your home by September 4th, 2024 to be included on our official tag sale map. The registration fee is $10. You can register online using the form below or in-person at the Village Office. Storytime with Troy Pinkney
The Library is hosting a special storytime with Troy Pinkney! Troy will read a few of her favorite books by her father, Jerry Pinkney, the beloved children's book author and illustrator. This storytime is appropriate for kids age 0 to 6 years old.
Croton Caring/ShopRite "Stuff the Truck" Event
Croton Caring will partner with ShopRite of Croton for its semi-annual "Stuff the Truck" event. Shoppers will receive a flyer listing high-need food items, and volunteers will be present to accept food donations. Community members' continued support is greatly appreciated.
Concert: The Aeolian Trio
Join the Library for a Sunday afternoon with three incredible musicians! The ancient traditions of Spanish guitar, Shakuhachi (Japanese flute), and world hand drums are the ingredients of the alluring sound of the The Aeolian Trio. For this final concert of their 2024 US tour, they'll be playing selections from their debut album, "A Rare Bird," as well as new works. Free and open to all! No registration required. This project is made possible with funds from Arts Alive, a regrant program of ArtsWestchester with support from the Office of the Governor, The New York State Legislature, and the New York State Council on the Arts.
Service Academy Information Session

The office of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will be hosting an information session for students and families interested in learning about opportunities to attend one of the nation's five service academies: U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy, and U.S. Naval Academy. This event will also feature a representative from a Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program and representatives from local institutions designated as National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C). They will discuss opportunities through the Department of Defense’s Cyber Service Academy Program, similar to the DoD’s Cyber Scholarship Program. Senator Gillibrand is also currently accepting applications for her 2024 Service Academy Nominations. Interested students may apply for a nomination through Senator Gillibrand’s website at https://www.gillibrand.senate.gov/help/academy-nominations/. The deadline to apply and submit all materials in consideration for a nomination through her office is Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 11:59 PM.
ShopRite of Croton Partners in Caring "Designer Bag" Bingo
ShopRite of Croton will host a "Designer Bag" Bingo event, offering thousands of dollars in prizes, with proceeds benefiting local charities. For inquiries or to purchase advance tickets, community members are encouraged to call ShopRite of Croton at 914-271-6400. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door, including bingo cards, a dauber, and a door raffle ticket. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., with bingo beginning at 6:00 p.m. Limited space is available, early registration is encouraged.

Family History Hunt
Celebrate the Westchester County Historical Society’s 150th Anniversary by exploring over 300 years of Westchester history across 32 communities, including Croton! The Family History Hunt features over 90 historic sites with “challenges” at each location, often involving taking and uploading photos to a web app. Participants who upload photos are eligible for prizes, and families visiting all the sites will receive free tickets to some of Westchester’s top attractions. Special prizes are awarded to the first families to complete the hunt and for the most creative site images. Westchester County Mobile Shredder
Location: Croton Free Library Ottinger Room
The Westchester County Mobile Shredder is coming to Croton-on-Hudson on Friday, September 27th, 2024. Residents may bring confidential personal papers for shredding from 9:00 AM to Noon. The Shredder will be parked in the Croton Train Station Parking Lot A, near 1 Croton Point Avenue. Residents can bring up to 4 file-size (10”x12”x15”) boxes of confidential papers per household for shredding. Please remove all large binder clips and covers prior to arrival.
Croton Business Council Oktoberfest
Location: Upper Village
The Croton Business Council will host the fourth annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 28th, in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson. This festive event will feature a vibrant mix of food, drinks, arts and crafts, live music, and family-friendly activities. Attendees can look forward to a street filled with traditional German fare, artisanal foods, craft beers, wines, and international delights from various local vendors. Non-food vendors will also be present, offering a wide range of goods. This year’s Oktoberfest will include a special “Kinder Fall Fest” area with kid-friendly activities.
40th Annual Croton Rotary Auto Show

The Croton Rotary Club invites the community to the 40th Annual Croton Rotary Auto Show. This family-friendly event will showcase a stunning array of classic cars, along with an EV Corral featuring electric vehicles.
