Remembering Our Veterans
Remembering Our Veterans
Dear Reader,
Thank you for visiting the village website to read about some of Croton’s finest veterans!
My name is Erin Livingston. I live in Croton and I am a Girl Scout in Kathy Vogel’s troop 1244. In the past year, I have been working with the Village Historian writing a book to tell the stories of Croton’s 26 deceased veterans, honored by having a street named after them. The following book is part of my Girl Scout Gold Award, a project I started to help preserve some of Croton’s history and honor our men who were once in service.
The book contains the stories of the men who were named after the following streets:
- Ackerman Court
- Aschman Lane
- Birch Lane
- Briggs Lane
- Charles W Briggs Road
- Cook Lane
- Daily Drive
- Eklof Court
- Fox Road
- Gerstein Street
- Giglio Court
- Hixson Road
- Hughes Street
- Jacoby Street
- Kuney Street
- Loconto Street
- Michaels Lane
- Munson Street
- Newton Court
- O’Riley Court
- Peter Beet Lane
- Sheldon Coons Place
- Wolf Road
- Veterans Plaza (the train station area): Rehor Way, Fiaminghi Way, Quatrocchi Way
If you know anyone who lives on any of the above streets, or someone who loves history like I do, I urge you to spread the news of this book.
Without further adieu, I invite you to read about the men who gave their lives for our country and for our town. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Erin Livingston,
Girl Scout Troop 1244
