Updates on Community Choice Aggregation (CCA)

The Village of Croton-on-Hudson Board of Trustees, at their February 20, 2018, Regular Board Meeting, voted to join Sustainable Westchester’s Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program, called Westchester Power, for our Village. CCA will enable residents and small businesses to buy electricity supply in bulk and choose renewable sources to reduce our community’s carbon footprint. Twenty Westchester County municipalities are currently participating in CCA, which has saved residents and small businesses money on their electric bills while supporting renewable energy.

On October 5, 2020, Westchester Power presented the results of the bid process to the Board of Trustees for the period beginning January 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022. The last row in the table below reflects the accepted bid from Westchester Power:

On October 19, 2020, the Board of Trustees authorized the Village Manager to execute the electrical services agreement with Sustainable Westchester to accept the above rates.

On June 30th, 2022, Westchester Power reached the end of its current contract term for participants in the Con Edison service territory. Due to volatile energy market prices, the program has been put on a temporary pause. Effective Friday, July 1st, participants who receive either the 100% Renewable or Standard electricity supply offering through Westchester Power in the Con Edison utility territory will begin reverting to the default Con Edison electricity supply. Find information about these changes here.

The Westchester Power program electricity service will resume in November 2022, ending the current pause during which customers returned to Con Edison supply. A program notification letter was mailed to participating residents. Sustainable Westchester has hosted online information sessions about the program and the new contract.
