Croton Historical Society Presentation Tomorrow, June 14, 10am-11am
Harmon, The New City
In 1905, innovative real estate developer Clifford B. Harmon announced the purchase of the Van Cortlandt family farm, where he intended to build “Harmon, the New City, the most important and extensive suburban development in the history of New York.” Village Historian Marc Cheshire will tell the story of how Harmon bought, marketed and sold his “new city” and his colorful life as a wealthy playboy and internationally famous aviator.
