Bicycle Patrol Unit

Bicycle Patrol Unit

Under the leadership of Chief Russel Harper, the Croton Police Department Bike Patrol Unit has been trained and reactivated. The bike patrol unit will be used as a resource during the warmer months and at special events to bridge the gap between automobile and foot patrol.

The Bike Patrol Officers use special uniforms and equipment which allows them to ride in a variety of conditions and terrain. Allowing greater accessibility to parks, trails and walkways, the officers have the opportunity to be more proactive. Receiving positive feedback from the community, the Bike Patrol’s benefits are apparent in terms of personal contact and interaction with the village youth, residents and businesses.

The unit currently consists of Sgt. Velardo (Unit Coordinator), Officer Roper (Asst. Coordinator), Det. Sgt. Smith, Det. Leonard and Police Officers Garrido, Broughal, Davis & Fielding.
