A selection of incidents from the police blotter of the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department. Please note that the below information is public record and does not constitute all calls received by the department during the period.

Narrative: Croton EMS was dispatched to a commercial establishment on Albany Post Road for a Croton resident needing medical assistance. Party was transported to the hospital.

Narrative: A 911 caller reported his wife called him regarding a vehicle off the roadway on Route 9 South near Senasqua Road. Patrols responded and reported a 2003 Volkswagen Passat is disabled due to being stuck in the snow; it is not a motor vehicle accident. Patrol requested a tow and Nappy's was notified and responded. Condition corrected.

Narrative: Caller reported an older white male, thin build, wearing a black jacket and an Air Force baseball cap, asking people for money in the Shoprite parking lot. Patrols responded and reported the subject was advised to cease panhandling.

Narrative: Caller reported a male subject, fitting description of the prior call, asking for money. Patrols checked the area and reported the man was gone upon the patrols arrival.

Narrative: 60 Control dispatched Croton Fire Department to a Georgia Lane residence for an activated fire alarm. Patrols also dispatched to the residence. Patrols on scene reported the homeowner set the alarm off in error while cooking. The alarm company was notified by the homeowner.

Narrative: An alarm company reported an activated panic alarm from a private residence on Truesdale Drive. Patrols report the alarm was set off in error by the homeowner.

Narrative: Caller reported a two-car accident at the intersection of Croton Point Avenue and South Riverside Avenue. Patrols reported a black 2019 Hyundai and a black 2020 Hyundai involved. Patrols requested next duty tow for the 2019 Hyundai. Accident report to be filed.

Narrative: Caller stated that he was in the BP Gas Station and there were two youths "acting wild" and did not have face masks on. Patrol dispatched to check location. Patrol reported checking the BP Gas Station and everything appears normal. No one was acting out or not wearing face masks.

Narrative: Caller reported multiple disabled vehicles in the area of Route 9 North/Senasqua off ramp. Patrols responded and report same condition on North Riverside Ave. Condition corrected prior to patrol arrival.

Narrative: Ossining Police Department reported they received a call regarding an accident on Route 9 North. Accident was reportedly north of the Shoprite exit. OPD says the caller was not involved in the accident. No other calls into Croton Police. Patrols dispatched to check Routes 9 and 9A. Negative results.

Narrative: 60 Control dispatched Croton EMS to track #2 at the Croton-Harmon Train Station for an intoxicated person on a train; no response time provided by the M.T.A. Police. Patrols responded and reported M.T. A. police on scene. Croton EMS and M.T.A. patrols handled.

Narrative: Caller requested EMS for a male patient experiencing a seizure. Patrols and EMS dispatched. Patrol reported the aided is alert and conscious upon arrival. Aided transported to the hospital by OVAC.

Narrative: Caller requested EMS for a male patient with a broken hip. Croton EMS dispatched and handled the call.

Call Type: Disabled Vehicle
Narrative: Caller reported a disabled tan minivan on the shoulder of Route 9 North, south of the Montrose/Buchanan exit. Patrol dispatched. Patrol reported locating a gold 2013 Chrysler. The operator stated that the vehicle ran out of gas. A check showed that the vehicle registration was valid; however, the operator had an expired NYS driver’s license. Additionally, M.T.A. Police has an active warrant for the operator for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation. M.T.A. Police contacted and confirmed warrant and will respond to the scene to take operator into custody. M.T.A. Police conducted inventory of vehicle. Nappy's contacted and retrieved vehicle. Croton patrols stood by until tow removed vehicle.

Narrative: Alarm company reported the generator in the Harmon Fire House activated then restored. DPW personnel notified of restore.

Narrative: Caller reported that over the past 24 hours, an adult tabby/tiger striped cat has been on his property. The cat has no collar. No recent reports of a lost cat received. Caller indicated that if an owner calls the police department reporting a cat missing to provide his contact information to arrange the return.

Narrative: Parking Enforcment Officer reported issuing multiple summonses to a red 2017 Honda Civic for snow parking and 48 hour storage. A check of the vehicle showed vehicle registration suspended. Patrol dispatched. Car is completely buried in snow and is unable to be towed at this time. No contact information found for owner. Patrol to follow up again tomorrow. The vehicle was not moved by the evening of February 12th, and it was impounded at that time.

Narrative: Parking Enforcement Officer turned in one navy blue Ryobi Sawzall, which she found on the ground in the Van Wyck Shopping Center parking lot. Item placed in garage.

Narrative: Caller reported one of their cars is out with a disabled vehicle on Route 9 North, north of Senasqua Road exit. Patrol dispatched and reported two troopers out with vehicle. Roadside assistance was already contacted.

Narrative: Caller stated there is a cover missing from a pipe at the above location in the street. Cover is possibly for a water pipe. Caller does not want someone to get their foot caught in the pipe. Water Department personnel notified and will be back in the morning to repair the cover. Patrol placed a parking cone over it for now.

Narrative: Dig Safe called in an emergency dig at 24 Scenic Drive. Con Edison is repairing a gas line. Water Department was notified and responded to location.

Narrative: Caller reported an erratic driver in a black Jeep. Caller further stated that he was trying to change lanes and the Jeep keeps following him. Patrol dispatched but vehicle was gone on arrival.

Narrative: 60 Control dispatched the Croton Fire Department for a residential fire alarm. Patrol dispatched; the alarm was set off in error by homeowner.

Narrative: Caller requested EMS for her father, who she said fell in the house and is not feeling well. Patrols dispatched. Croton EMS responded and transported the aided to the hospital.

Narrative: Caller requested EMS for his wife, who he said is not feeling well, has tightness in her chest and pain in her back. Patrol dispatched. Croton EMS responded and transported the aided to the hospital.

Narrative: Caller reported an incident which just occurred in the Shoprite parking lot between her and another male. Caller stated she was attempting to pull her vehicle into a handicap parking space in front of Shoprite and she asked a male that was standing in the empty space to move out of the way. Caller stated that the male, described as a black male, wearing gray clothing, a red face mask and eyeglasses, approximately 5'6", flashed a badge at her and started yelling and cursing at her, telling her he could "do whatever he wanted." The caller further stated the male then got into his vehicle and left the parking lot. Caller stated she was so frightened by the incident that she left the store and drove back to her job. Patrol dispatched and interviewed caller; no crime committed. Blotter only at this time.

Narrative: 60 Control dispatched Croton EMS for a male who fell at the Croton-Harmon train station. Patrols dispatched. Patrols reported that the aided fell on the sidewalk portion at the bottom of the staircase, which is maintained by MTA. Patrols report area is not icy and further report that party is intoxicated. M.T.A. Police contacted and notified their patrols who were already out at the station. Aided transported to the hospital by Croton EMS.

Narrative: 60 Control dispatched Croton EMS to the Croton-Harmon train station for an inbound train with a person in mental distress on board. Patrol dispatched and reported Croton EMS and M.T.A. Police patrols on scene upon their arrival. Croton EMS handled the call with the assistance of M.T.A. Police.

Narrative: Caller reported that a woman in Sarasota, Florida, withdrew funds from her Wells Fargo business account. A fraudulent check was subsequently brought to another Wells Fargo branch and cashed. An attempt to cash a fraudulent TD Bank check was made at another Wells Fargo. This check was attempted to be drawn from her personal checking account and was declined. Complainant was contacted by Wells Fargo and alerted about the fraudulent transactions to her account. She responded to Wells Fargo and is in the process of rectifying the fraudulent charges with bank personnel. Wells Fargo to investigate further with the branch in Sarasota, Florida.

Narrative: Caller who was at Croton Landing walking said she thinks she is being "stalked" by a neighbor because she saw him at the CVS parking lot. Caller said she was leaving the Apple farm market on Maple Street when she noticed him walking in the parking lot. No crime occurred.  I explained to her it is not a crime to shop in the same shopping center as her but her call will be documented in a blotter.

Narrative: Caller stated he saw a wolf on Franklin Avenue while walking his dog. It started to come towards them but he yelled at it and it ran away. He does not believe it was sick or had rabies. He just wanted to make the police aware.

Narrative: Caller reported a black lab running loose on Mount Airy Road, between Grand Street and the Trails. Patrol dispatched and area canvassed. No sign of loose dog.

Narrative: Caller requested a lift assist for her husband who fell. Patrol dispatched and assisted him back into bed. Condition corrected and patrols reported resident refused medical attention.

Narrative: A Cortlandt resident caller reported her neighbor contacted her, indicating that she saw a man remove something from underneath her vehicle. Caller stated she thought it may have been a GPS tracking device and was concerned one may have been placed upon her vehicle as well. Patrols met caller in the parking lot of the Municipal Building and checked the vehicle with negative results.

Narrative: Caller reported "lots of garbage" scattered on the highway near Croton Point Avenue. Additional caller reported foam and construction type materials on Route 9 South at Municipal Place. NYS DOT notified and will have a road crew respond to clean area.

Narrative: Caller reported her Jeep Cherokee is disabled and she is partly in the traffic lane. Caller indicated her father just arrived on scene to assist. Patrols dispatched to location. While enroute, the caller reported that patrols can cancel as her father was able to move the Jeep.

Narrative: Caller, who was the landlord of the property, requested the police be present when her plumber and she go to tenant's apartment to make emergency repairs. Patrols dispatched to location and report repairmen in apartment performing work. Tenant interviewed and had no issues with work being performed today.

Narrative: Caller reported someone removed his NYS "Volunteer Fireman" license plate from his 2021 Dodge Ram 150 pickup truck. Caller was not exactly sure what day incident took place. Caller unable to respond to H.Q.'s at this time for a report and to complete depositions but he will respond once available. Caller was advised a form will be issued for the stolen plate so he can obtain new license plates at a NYS DMV office.

Narrative: Two calls received reporting an upright tire on the shoulder of Route 9 North on the Croton River Bridge. NYS DOT notified and will have a road crew remove the tire.

Narrative: 60 Control dispatched Croton EMS to the Croton-Harmon Train Station for a highly intoxicated subject on an inbound train. M.T.A. Police contacted, who reported M.T.A. Police already on scene. Croton EMS responded to the location and transported the aided to the hospital.

Narrative: Caller reported a black Camaro with its bumper hanging from the vehicle and an operator in the car. Caller reported the vehicle may have been involved in a recent accident. Patrols dispatched to check Benedict Blvd. Patrols report locating the car on Hastings Avenue. The vehicle has damage to under carriage guard from colliding into snow/ice. Patrols reported that the party was uncooperative; no report completed, blotter only. No additional reports of motor vehicle accidents received.

Narrative: Caller reported he sold his guitar and while in transit it was stolen. The caller shipped the guitar through the local UPS store on South Riverside Avenue as it was being shipped out of state. The caller further indicated that the guitar, after being stolen, was reportedly then re-purchased online and was recovered in a store in Rhode Island. Caller indicated he needed official documentation of reporting the incident to the Croton Police Department.

Narrative: Caller reported a tall, slim male wearing blue hat, black jacket, and beige pants walking through the parking lot at above location asking people for money. Patrols responded; subject was advised and complied.

Narrative: Alarm company reported a burglary alarm at commercial business. Alarm company called back a few minutes later to cancel response. Patrol response canceled.

Narrative: Yonkers PD reported via the county hotline that a robbery occurred at a gas station in that city. Two males, black, described as 5'8" and skinny, fled the scene in a 2009 Hyundai Tuscon bearing a New York registration.

Narrative: Caller reports her husband is disoriented and slurring his speech; transferred to 60 Control. Croton EMS and Paramedic responded; aided RMA'd.

Narrative: Caller stated his wife is having trouble speaking. Patrol and Croton EMS dispatched. Aided transported to the hospital by Croton EMS.

Narrative: Caller reported an elderly female with flip flops, hunched over, wearing a plaid coat and black pants, in the waiting area near the ticket booth at Croton-Harmon Train Station. Caller noticed that she "does not seem right." M.T.A. Police notified and patrol sent to check area. Patrol reported speaking with the elderly female. She stated that she is homeless and does not need any help. She further refused to provide any pedigree.

Narrative: Caller reported a light blue BMW SUV driving on Route 9 South pedestrian walkway over the Croton Bridge. Patrol responded and vehicle was no longer on scene.

Narrative: Caller reported she believes her husband is having a stroke. Croton EMS, 36 Medic-1 and patrols responded to the scene. Patrols reported the aided was transported by Croton EMS to the hospital.

Call Type: Lost Property
Narrative: Caller reported earlier losing his wallet at Shoprite. He reported that he is an employee of the store and has notified the staff working the courtesy desk.  The wallet is a brown Tommy Hilfinger leather wallet containing his US passport card ID, a debit and credit card, $9.00 and his driver's license.

Location: Route 129
Call Type: Erratic Driver
Narrative: Caller reported an erratic driver on Route 129 traveling toward Route 100; possibly intoxicated. Call transferred to NYSP. NYSP transferred call back; vehicle in question, bearing Virginia license plates, turned around and now heading toward Croton on Route 129; original caller lost sight of vehicle. Second caller reported vehicle turned off Route 129 toward the Croton Dam; call transferred to WCPD. Patrols responded, located vehicle, and report operator is not intoxicated, just unfamiliar with the area. WCPD advised they can cancel response. WCPD contacting DEP Police advising them of the same.

Narrative: Patrol reported stopping a white 2014 Chrysler 300 for VTL 1180-A (speed unreasonable and prudent). Operator, a 19-year-old Croton resident, was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and transported to police headquarters. Vehicle was impounded by Nappy's. The defendant was charged with penal law section 220.03 and released on his own recognizance. A return court date of March 3, 2021, was issued by the Croton Justice Court.
