Job Opportunity: Parking Enforcement Officer/School Crossing Guard

The Village of Croton-on-Hudson seeks a professional, well-organized individual to serve as a full-time Parking Enforcement Officer/School Crossing Guard. This will be a provisional appointment; the successful applicant will be required to take the Civil Service Exam and be reachable for appointment. Exam date to be announced.
 
The Parking Enforcement Officer/School Crossing Guard works under the supervision of the Chief of Police. The successful applicant will be expected to enforcement all standing traffic laws and parking violations and issues summonses when necessary. The successful applicant may also be required to perform the duties of a crossing guard during arrival and dismissal periods at local schools.
 
An applicant for this position should be familiar with the geography of the municipality and the location of private and public parking lots, as well as have the ability to interact with individuals tactfully but firmly, use electronic devices, including handheld parking ticket machines, to think and act quickly in emergencies and have some knowledge of first aid methods. An applicant should be prepared to work in all types of weather conditions and spend significant time walking in the Village’s business districts.

The salary for this position is $49,615. The successful applicant is required to have a high school diploma or equivalency degree, as well as a valid driver’s license. The position comes with a full benefit package, including health, dental, vacation, sick time and participation in the NYS Local Retirement System.
