Drawdown Advisory Lifted for Croton River

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has advised the Village of Croton-on-Hudson that the drawdown of the New Croton Reservoir that started September 6, 2022 has now ended. 

The advisory against recreational activities in the Croton River is no longer in effect. Echo Canoe Launch will reopen tomorrow, September 23, 2022.  While water levels will be lower than during the increased release, please be aware that higher than normal releases (75-100 MGD) will continue until the inspections are complete to maintain the current level of the reservoir.

The NY DEP has also advised that the pathway at the top/crest of the New Croton Dam will be closed to pedestrian and bicycle access from Monday, September 26, through Wednesday, October 5, 2022 to allow workers to conduct routine inspections of the dam and spillway.
