Join Assemblywoman Sandy Galef as she hosts a community conversation on climate change and discusses what we can do to make a difference. Speakers include Mark Lowery, NYS DEC Assistant Director, Office of Climate Change, Donovan Gordan, NYSERDA Director of Clean Heating and Cooling Program, Conor Bambrick, Environmental Advocates of New York Climate Director and Chandu Visweswariah, Utopis Insights Founding President and CEO.
 
Westchester Skiers & Riders Kick-Off
Wednesday, November 13 – 7:30 PM to 9 PM

All are welcome! Join us to kick off the 2019-20 ski season and plan family-oriented day trips and weekend trips. The 2020 season calendar will be discussed and deposits for our March 6-8 Killington trip package deal will be accepted. Westchester Skiers & Riders is a Croton-based winter sports club and the first Westchester ski & snowboard club with a family focus. WSR is a member of the Metro NY Ski Council. All skill levels are welcome.
 
Croton Coalition Candlelight Vigil
Thursday, November 14 – 6 PM
Vassallo Park
 
In celebration of people in recovery, in support of people struggling with substance abuse and in memory of those who lost their loves because of drugs and alcohol. There will be poetry readings and songs of hope by Croton teens. Hot chocolate and refreshments immediately following at Holy Name of Mary Church.
 
Croton Free Library Book & Bake Sale
Saturday-Sunday, November 16-17 – 10 AM to 3 PM

The Croton Free Library Book and Bake sale is back. There will be a tremendous variety of books, music, and DVDs. The selection is great for all ages at prices that cannot be beat. Also come and enjoy homemade baked goods for sale to take home or eat while you explore. Sunday, after 2PM, all items are reduced to $1 (except those specially marked and mass market books which are regularly 4 for $1) and baked goods are buy 1, get 1. Kiss Your Gas Goodbye Presentation
Saturday, November 16 – 11 AM to Noon
Municipal Building Community Room
 
A 1-hour presentation - using PowerPoint slides, a paper handout, and brief talks by two electric vehicle owners (Niall Kelleher and Lindsay Audin) - followed by an outdoor demonstration of how to use one of Croton's EV chargers at the Municipal Building. Hosted by the Village of Croton-on-Hudson Sustainability Committee.
 
NOSH 2019 Food Showcase
Sunday, November 17 – 11:30 AM to 2 PM
Temple Israel of Northern Westchester
 
NOSH 2019, sponsored by the Brotherhood of Temple Israel of Northern Westchester, is a fun, family-friendly, Jewish-themed, food tasting and food. Local restaurants and caterers serve food samples at stations throughout our space while participants enjoy delicious items from around the county. A Concert of Thanksgiving

An exciting program of classical, jazz, sacred and a capella choral music. Our Community Choral Collaboration features St. A’s Choir and local artists Denise Bessette, Claire Collins, Paul Connor, Alice Leuenhagen, Mark Minkler, Gem Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, Lisa Morsberger, Julie Nord, Elinore O’Connell and Sophia Steger. Suggested donation of $20/person or $40/family.
 
Goddess Bracelet Making with Judy
Tuesday, November 19 – 3:30 to 5 PM
Croton Free Library
 
Come spend an afternoon at the Croton Free Library and make a goddess bracelet. It’s easy for beginners and no experience necessary. Great way to get into beading for someone who would like to get started. All materials are included. For tweens, teens and adults. Registration required.
 
Misty Ann Sturm, Master of Ceremonies

Acclaimed soprano Misty Ann Sturm (who starred as Lily in “The Secret Garden”) hosts the Broadway & Cabaret Showcase at the Croton Free Library. Pianist Tyler Walker accompanies Misty and all other performers. The evening’s line-up of talent includes Sharon Adler, Max Denler, Jacob Dryer, Barry Gottlieb, Jonathan Hiller, Julie Martinez, Angela Rice, Ben Thomas and Katelyn Wilson (subject to change). Come hear Misty and your friends and neighbors sing!
 
Croton Reservoir & Dam Hike
Sunday, November 24 – 11 AM
Croton Gorge Park
 
Easy 2-mile (total) hike north along the Aqueduct and atop the beautiful Croton Dam. Meet near the restrooms at the parking lot at Croton Gorge Park. The leader of the hike will discuss the history and construction of the Old Croton Aqueduct and the features of the Croton Dam, the trailhead of the Aqueduct Trail. 
 
“Big Ideas about Appreciation and Gratitude” with Patricia Shih
Sunday, November 24 – 2 PM
Croton Free Library
 
An interactive concert with singer/guitarist Patricia Shih entertains the entire family. With a theme just in time for Thanksgiving, “Big Ideas about Appreciation and Gratitude” is full of fun and loads of audience participation. Come sing, dance and celebrate the bright side of life.
