History of Race Discussion Group

Join the Diversity & Inclusion Committee for their discussion group. As a prelude to future discussions on the complex topics of systemic racism, we will be going back in time to origins of our systems - the how and the why. After watching a video on History of Race together, we will discuss issues raised in the film and how our history and the founding principles of the United States ultimately created a platform for systemic racism which impacts us all today. National Drug Take Back Day

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
 
Arboretum Spring Walk
Sunday, April 25 – Noon to 2 p.m.
Croton Arboretum (end of Fox Lane)
 
Join the Jane E. Lytle Memorial Arboretum for a walk in the Spring woods! If you have ever thought "I wonder what kind of a tree that is?" or whether the tree in your yard is a native or an invasive species, this is the stroll for you. Craig Stevens, a certified arborist, will be your guide. Gather at the end of Fox Lane and walk in to the Arboretum. Your feet will be dry on the boardwalk as you admire the stream and wetland filled with ferns and skunkcabbage!
 
Croton Community Blood Drive
Monday, April 26 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Municipal Building Community Room
 
The New York Blood Center will be hosting blood drives in the Community Room at the Municipal Building during the month of April. To remain in compliance with the federal guidelines for social distancing, appointments preferred. Walk-ins welcome if drive capacity permits. Warbler Walk at Croton Point
Saturday, May 1 – 9:30 a.m.
Croton Point Nature Center
 
See and hear colorful warblers and other migrants on their way north, while new arrivals and resident bird species establish nesting territories. Hike led by park naturalist. Ages nine and up. Meet at nature center. 10 participants; registration required by calling the nature center: (914) 862-5297. Also on Saturday, May 8; registration required.
 
I Love My Park Day 2021
Saturday, May 1 – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Croton Aqueduct (near Quaker Bridge Road)
 
Join the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct, local volunteers, and naturalists to celebrate I Love My Park Day. Volunteers will be removing invasive plants, lopping tree-strangling vines, removing trash, and, in some locations, planting native plants. You may even have the opportunity to learn how to identify invasive species and the best ways to manage them. We have experienced crew leaders so volunteers will be in great hands. May the Fourth Celebration
Tuesday, May 4 – 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Croton Free Library
 
Stop by the front lawn of the Croton Free Library to celebrate May the Fourth! Wear a costume, take a photo, and grab a balloon lightsaber and a craft kit to take home. Free, outdoors, and open to all! Wear a mask and stay socially distanced. Stop by any time.
