Dial 911 for Emergencies
Croton-on-Hudson's Emergency Medical Services Department is an entirely volunteer organization that provides ambulance services to the Village. Over 40 members strong and rapidly growing, respond to over 650 calls per year. Until recently, Croton EMS was part of the CrotonFire Department. With the steady increase of EMS calls within the Croton Fire Department, it became necessary to seperate the EMS division to its own department under the jurisdiction of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson.
Croton EMS started with a core of 22 experienced members of the Croton Fire Department . These same 22 members belong to both, the Croton Fire Department and Croton EMS. The one main advantage of separting the EMS to its own department is that the Village of Croton-on-Hudson can now bill for medical services. This will help with the financial income for the village and help keep taxes down a bit for the residences of the village.
No prior EMS experience is necessary to join and training and equipment are provided. Stop by the Harmon Firehouse on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. for more information.
