The Village Justice Court maximum monetary jurisdiction over small claim matters is $3,000. To file a small claim, you must come to the Court Clerk's office. The person you are bringing the action against must reside, work, or have a place of business within the Village proper. Having a Croton-on-Hudson zip code does not necessarily mean the location is within the Village limits - you must confirm that the location is within the Village. The filing fee is $10.00 for claims up to $1,000.00; and $15.00 for claims over $1,000.00 up to $3,000.00. You must be 18 years or older to
bring an action; otherwise the action must be brought by a parent or guardian.
